The URJC is a candidate for the European 'HRS4R' seal of research and educational quality

In its commitment to research and educational quality, the university presents its candidacy to obtain this seal, which will allow it to position itself as an important focus of attraction for talent. In addition, it will also improve and modernize the professional environment for university researchers, in line with the strategic line.

In its commitment to research and educational quality at an international level, the Rey Juan Carlos University has begun the process to implement the 'Human Resources Award' seal within the framework of the 'Human Resources Strategy for Researchers' (HRS4R) initiative of the European Comission.

Obtaining this seal will increase international visibility and confidence in the URJC as a focus for attracting talent and is in line with one of the strategic points of the University. A strategic line that aims to modernize and improve the professional environment of researchers. In addition, another main objective is to respond to and comply with the contents of the research projects financed under the European Horizon 2020 programme, which guarantee that the work carried out by the teaching and research staff is carried out with the maximum guarantees and under the corresponding standards. quality.

As part of this strategy to attract researchers, four degrees from the Higher School of Experimental Sciences and Technology (ESCET) have managed to be certified with the European 'EUR-ACE' seal, which certifies the excellence of engineering programs at an international level. These four degrees are Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Energy Engineering and Environmental Engineering.

The quality of URJC's degrees and teachers are also reflected in the good positions that have been achieved in various international rankings and which, like the 'THE ranking', place it among the 200 best universities in the world with less than 50 years of operation.

International quality in research

The 'HRS4R' distinction, now pursued by the URJC and awarded by the European Commission, recognizes the efforts of research institutions and entities that finance R&D that have implemented a series of good practices in research. All this in accordance with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the recruitment of researchers.

The European Charter for Researchers contains a set of general principles and requirements that define the role, responsibilities and rights of researchers, entrepreneurs and entities that provide funds for R&D&i. On the other hand, the Code of Conduct includes a series of recommendations made by the European Commission that the member entities undertake to apply and disseminate voluntarily, and whose purpose is to contribute to the development of an attractive European labor market for research.

The URJC began the process to obtain the seal last academic year 2018/2019, at the same time that the Faculties and Schools, as well as the International Doctoral School, were informed of the actions to be carried out to achieve this recognition, divided into eight phases. Around 1.200 institutions from 40 countries inside and outside Europe have expressed their willingness to adopt the principles contained in both documents. Of these, only 482 have passed the evaluation process and have obtained the 'HRS4R' distinction.

Currently, the URJC has drawn up an action plan that includes 17 points, among which the commitment to adapt the selection and hiring processes following European standards stands out. It has included the improvement measures that have been detected in the previous internal analysis that has been made of the university.
