The URJC launches the EURICLEA mentoring pilot project

The EURICLEA initiative, promoted by the Office of the Vice President for Innovation, Transfer and Business Relations, is a pilot project with the aim of supporting researchers who are in the early stages of their careers.

Last Thursday,February 10th 2022, the EURICLEA mentoring program was launched by the Office of the Vice President for Innovation, Transfer and Business Relations. This is a pilot project whose objective is to support researchers who are in the early stages of their research career. To do this, the 18 mentors will have the support of 18 highly qualified mentors with extensive experience in the academic-research environment. EURICLEA mentors will guide and accompany the mentees in the development of their research career at the university institution.

The specific objectives of the EURICLEA program are:

  1. Inform about professional options.
  2. Facilitate professional development.
  3. Develop professional relationships.
  4. Cultivate individual career plans.
  5. Improve leadership skills.
  6. Provide peer support, sharing knowledge and experiences.

The pilot program will run until December 2022 when an evaluation will be carried out to analyze the degree of satisfaction of the participants in the program, draw conclusions and good practices, and, if necessary, adapt the program to the needs detected in order to implement it in the rest of the research community.

This initiative is framed within the Human Resources for Researchers Strategy - HRS4R, launched by the European Commission with the aim of supporting universities and research institutions and organizations that finance research in the application of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

In representation of the commitment of the Rey Juan Carlos University to develop, in accordance with its internal policies, its human resources strategy, adhering to the recommendations and principles set forth in the Charter and the Code, the University obtained from the European Commission the Seal HRS4R in July 2020. This emblem identifies the institutions that generate and support the existence of a stimulating and favorable environment for the researcher's work. Thus, the URJC guarantees transparency, accessibility, fairness and the search for excellence in the hiring of researchers.
