Completion of the courses

The URJC, together with the Red Cross, have organized First Aid (PPAA) and Emotional Health courses attended by more than 300 students on all campuses. The sessions began last November 26th at the Móstoles campus, continuing the 27 in Vicálvaro and the 28 in Aranjuez. The initiative was very well received, which led the University to expand the number of places with new sessions: the December 2nd in Vicálvaro, 3 in Alcorcon and the 9 on the Fuenlabrada campus.

On the first day, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Students, Rosa Romero Moreno, officially opened the course, highlighting the importance of acquiring these skills that can make a difference in critical situations.

Practical and essential training

Each Red Cross course had a duration of 4 hours, in which health sector professionals taught students from different branches how to act in the event of a health emergency. From Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation maneuvers (RCP) to emotional management techniques for supporting people in crisis, Attendees received practical training and useful tools to deal with emergencies.

As stated by the Vice-Chancellor for Students, Almudena López López, during the opening of one of the courses: "This type of initiative is essential. We have long perceived the demand to know how to act in the face of health crisis situations and psychological.” This phrase was motivating for the students who enjoyed more than 8 hours of training where they demonstrated much interest in the interventions and practices that were carried out.

Great reception from students

The Student House decided to expand the number of days allocated to Red Cross training since the students' interest in the courses exceeded initial expectations with more than 1000 students enrolled.

A total of 300 students successfully completed the training sessions, demonstrating great commitment and taking advantage of this training that the university offered free of charge to students. The students received an official certificate of recognition from the Red Cross of the knowledge and skills acquired.  With this type of activities, the URJC reinforces its commitment to the comprehensive preparation of its students, providing them with competencies and soft skills that go beyond the classroom and enable them to face everyday situations.
