Spanish Olympiad of Economy: presentation and objective
The Spanish Olympiad in Economics is an academic and educational competition, whose main objective is to stimulate the study of Economics and Business among young people with reflective and entrepreneurial skills, offering them the opportunity to participate with a sporting spirit in a field competition regional and national and rewarding them in recognition of their academic excellence.
Likewise, it intends to serve as a meeting point between Universities, Secondary Education Centers, high school Economics teachers and students interested in the world of Economics, who will be future students in our Faculties, trying to establish stable links between all of them.
Currently, forty-four Faculties of Economics and Business participate and collaborate in the development of the XVII Spanish Economics Olympiad, which will hold its National Phase at the Rey Juan Carlos University (Aranjuez Campus) from June 17 to 19, 2026.

Local phase: Madrid Economy Olympiad
The Madrid Economics Olympiad constitutes the Local Phase of the Spanish Economics Olympiad within the Community of Madrid and is jointly organized by the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Rey Juan Carlos University, the Complutense University of Madrid, the University of Alcalá and the Carlos III University of Madrid.
For the performance of the test, which is unique in the entire Madrid territory, there will be five open venues: one per University, where the Olympiad will be held simultaneously. The test will be the same in all cases, selecting and awarding the best fifteen students, who will represent Madrid in the Spanish Olympiad of Economy.
Participants and registration
All students from Secondary Education Centers who are enrolled in 2nd year of Baccalaureate during the 2025-26 academic year in the Community of Madrid will be able to participate in the Madrid Economics Olympiad; as well as Centers from provinces bordering Madrid, attached to Madrid Universities for the purposes of the University entrance exam.
The choice of venue for participation in the Olympiad is free, so registration for the test can be made at any of the venues of the five organizing Universities (Autonomous of Madrid, Rey Juan Carlos, Complutense of Madrid, Alcalá and Carlos III of Madrid).
However, in the exceptional case that, for organizational reasons, the number of registered for the test in the venue selected in the registration is not viable, due to an excess of registrations with respect to the other venues, the Organizing Committee, With sufficient notice, you can reassign students in other locations. In this case, the Organizing Committee will contact the teacher and the corresponding center to inform about the venue where the test must be taken.

It must be carried out by each student together with the teacher responsible for its preparation. The maximum number of students that each teacher can enroll will be 25 students..

The data provided in the registration will be used to prepare the certificates of participation of students and teachers, as well as in the diplomas delivered to the students and teachers who are awarded and in all the documentation that could be generated in relation to the test (registration of the winners in the national final, individualized communication of the qualifications to the centers, news in the media...). For this reason, it is recommended to check the accuracy and correctness of all the data provided, before confirming the registration through the online electronic form.
When completing and sending the registration, you should receive confirmation of it by email (at the address provided by the teacher at the beginning of the form). Registered students are automatically summoned for the test, without the need for subsequent personal communication, unless for organizational reasons the Organizing Committee must reassign the test venues.
Place and date of the test
La The 17th Madrid Economics Olympiad will be held in person. the day March 14th 2026 at 11 pm:
- Headquarters of the Autonomous University of Madrid: Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences.
- Headquarters of the King Juan Carlos University: Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences, Madrid Campus (Vicálvaro).
- Headquarters of the Complutense University of Madrid: Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences, Somosaguas Campus.
- Headquarters of the University of Alcalá: Faculty of Economic, Business and Tourism Sciences (Historic Campus).
- Headquarters of the Carlos III University of Madrid: Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences, Getafe Campus.
The examination modality, scheduled date and time could be modified, if exceptional circumstances so require, in which case the Centers would be informed in a timely manner.
Syllabus
The syllabus for the XVII Madrid Economics Olympiad test corresponds to the programs of the subjects "Economics" of 1st year of Baccalaureate and "Business and Design of Business Models" of 2nd year of Baccalaureate, in accordance with the Baccalaureate curriculum (BOE, number 82, of April 6, 2022; BOCM, number 176, of July 26, 2022) (Decree 64/2022, of July 20, of the Governing Council of the Community of Madrid).
Test and fix
The test for the 17th Madrid Economics Olympiad will last two hours and will consist of an anonymous written exam, divided into three parts:
- The first will consist of fifteen multiple choice questions, related to relationships and basic concepts, of which the student must answer only ten. Each correct question will score 0,4 points while each mistake will subtract 0,1 points. Unanswered questions do not count. The evaluation of this test will be up to 4 points. To pass this part of the exam and to correct the rest of the test, it is necessary to minimum score on the test 2,4 points.
- The second will be made up of three practical exercises, the participants having to carry out two of them. Each exercise will score a maximum of 2 points.
- The third will consist of a current economic text, from which the students will have to answer the questions that arise. The maximum rating will be 2 points.
The exams will be corrected, regardless of the venue where they are held, by an Evaluation Commission made up of members of the five organizing Universities, without identifying their authors. This Commission, according to the results, will determine the award-winning students in the Olympiad.
Awards
The first fifteen students classified in the Madrid Economics Olympiad will represent the Community in the final phase of the Spanish Olympiad, In King Juan Carlos University (Aranjuez Campus) June 17-19, 2026.
The top fifteen students and their tutors will receive various prizes related to leisure, technology and education.
Additionally, the best center of the local Olympiad will be awarded, the one whose five best students present the highest average grade. In this case, both the center and the five students will be rewarded.
The awarded students and professors will be informed by telephone and invited to the awards, which will take place in the month of May, day, place and time to be determined.
Furthermore, the top finishers in the 17th Madrid Economics Olympiad will receive as a prize a tuition waiver for the first year of undergraduate studies at any of the five faculties that, representing their respective universities, are organizing the Olympiad. Each university offers a quota of free tuition places, and each sets its own specific conditions for the tuition waiver.

The organizing committee of the Madrid Economics Olympiad is made up of five representatives, one from each organizing university, and its functions will be: to prepare the test, coordinate the grading of the exercises, rank the participants in order, and determine the winners who will participate in the XVII Spanish Economics Olympiad.
Image rights
Audiovisual content (photographs, videos, etc.) that may be obtained during the celebration of the Madrid Economics Olympiad at its different venues, will be treated according to the regulations of the respective Universities.
As a public act, during the awards ceremony organized by the five Universities, the audiovisual content produced will be the property of the same and, apart from being able to make it available to the winners, it may be used freely in their publications, web pages, etc. .
Acceptance of the bases
Participation in this call implies full acceptance of its bases and the unappealable decision of the Evaluating Commission of the Madrid Economics Olympiad, which will be responsible for resolving any contingency not foreseen in this call.
