What knowledge will I acquire with this Master?

The student will acquire transversal knowledge of different subjects related to the European Union and China. The objective of this Master is to offer a multifaceted and broad vision of current affairs that allows understanding the rapid transformations of society in a global and interconnected scenario. To understand the economy it is necessary to delve into the culture, and to understand it it is essential to carry out an analysis of the historical foundations. From the economy we pass to society from a legal perspective that allows us to acquire a broad vision as a whole. 

It is therefore very current and dynamic knowledge always offered from the academic methodology and the scientific rigor of the University. 

Is this degree official according to the regulations required by the European Higher Education Area?

Is it necessary to pass an access test?

As the verification report indicates, the student must pass a personal interview at the time of pre-registration that will have a maximum score of 30% of the total value. On the other hand, the academic record will be valued at 60%. Finally, professional experience will be valued at 10% of the total grade. In the event that the student cannot attend the personal interview due to justified cause such as residence in another country, this will be done by videoconference

The profile of the university candidates to carry out the European Union-China Master, in the distance modality, and thus obtain the official postgraduate degree, will respond to the following characteristics:

  • Self-employed or employed workers, with some professional experience and interested in improving their qualifications or their chances of promotion in the academic field.
  • People who, due to geographical reasons of distance from the face-to-face teaching centers or for reasons of a personal nature, have difficulties in following another type of teaching.
  • Students from other universities or educational centers, willing to take a new distance education to complete the knowledge or qualifications in course of acquisition.

Objectives

It is recognized that the European Union is the most advanced in the experiences of integration processes in the world. As the Treaties were reformed, from 1957 to the present, the Community and then the European Union, have been receiving a greater number of powers and, consequently, have occupied an increasingly relevant space in the political, economic, and social life of the States that form it, building a legal and political system, of international recognition, a fact that has mobilized public attention.

In turn, China in recent decades has experienced an exponential growth of its economy. To a greater extent, pursuing prolonged internal growth and population rebalancing. Once this has been achieved, now China is turning abroad, and is in full development of its foreign political program known as "The new Silk Road". This will be one of the backbones of this master's degree, as it seeks to train adults and young people in the new role that China plays on the international stage.

Admission and enrollment

Criteria and procedure for admission to the degree

The general requirements for access to University Master's Degrees are, according to article 18 of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university education and the procedure for ensuring its quality, the following:

  1. Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
  2. In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies. In no case will access through this route imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the person concerned or its recognition for other purposes than that of carrying out the Master's degree.
  3. Universities will guarantee transparent and accessible information on admission procedures, and must have student orientation systems. Likewise, they will ensure that said information and admission procedures take into account students with disabilities or with specific needs, and will have appropriate support and advice services.
  4. Universities may exceptionally establish, based on specific regulations approved by their governing bodies, conditional enrolment procedures for access to a Master's Degree. This will consist of allowing a Bachelor's student who has not yet completed the TFG and a maximum of 9 ECTS credits to access and enrol in a Master's Degree, although in no case will they be able to obtain the Master's degree if they have not previously obtained the Bachelor's degree. Universities will guarantee priority in enrolment for students who have an official university degree of Graduate. In this procedure, credits pending recognition or transfer in the Bachelor's degree, or the requirement to pass a certain level of knowledge of a foreign language to obtain the degree, may be taken into account.
  5. Universities or centres will regulate admission to Master's degree courses, establishing specific requirements and, if necessary, training supplements, the credit load of which may not exceed the equivalent of 20 percent of the degree's credit load. The credits for training supplements will be considered in the same way as the rest of the credits in the Master's degree curriculum.
  6. Universities will reserve at least 5 percent of the places offered in official university Master's degrees for students who have a recognized degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 percent, as well as for students with permanent educational support needs associated with personal circumstances of disability, who in their previous studies have required resources and support for their full educational inclusion.

ADMISSION

The admission requirements for the Master's degree in European Union and China, offered by URJC and UDIMA, will be identical in both, determined by current legislation and framed within the respect for fundamental principles such as the right to education and the principles of equality, merit and ability, with a prohibition of discrimination and promotion of equal opportunities.

The requirements for admission to official Master's degree programs, in accordance with the provisions of Article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29 [amended by Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2 (Official State Gazette of July 3, 2010) and by Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28 (Official State Gazette of February 10, 2011)], which establishes the organization of official university education, are defined as follows:

  •  To access official Master's studies, it will be necessary to hold an official Spanish university degree or another degree issued by a Higher Education institution of the European Higher Education Area that qualifies the holder in the issuing country for access to Master's studies.
  •  Students with qualifications from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area must demonstrate a level of education equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees that qualify them for postgraduate studies in the country where the degree was awarded. Under no circumstances will admission via this route imply official recognition of the degree or its validation for any purpose other than enrollment in the Master's program.
  •  Non-Spanish speaking students must demonstrate at least a B2 level in the European framework of reference for languages ​​in Spanish.

Regarding the admission requirements for official Master's degrees, the provisions of Article 17 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29 [modified by Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2 (BOE of July 3, 2010) and by Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28 (BOE of February 10, 2011)], which establishes the organization of official university studies, must be taken into account.

To be admitted to the Master's Degree program at Rey Juan Carlos University and UDIMA, students must:

  •  To prove possession of one of the aforementioned access routes.
  •  Complete a pre-registration application.
  •  Submission of the certified documentation necessary to formalize your file.
  •  Certified photocopy of ID card/passport/NIE.
  •  Certified photocopy of the official university degree.

Foreign students with qualifications from countries outside the European Higher Education Area, in addition to the documentation mentioned above, must provide:

  •  Certificate stating the official nature of your degree
  •  Detailed program of the degree completed, in order to verify the level of training obtained with the studies.

Documents issued abroad must be official and duly legalized through diplomatic channels or the Hague Apostille, and must also be accompanied by their corresponding official translation into Spanish.

The competent body of UDIMA for the management of admission and registration procedures is the Academic Management Department, under the General Secretariat of the University.            

Students enrolling in the Master's program, through Rey Juan Carlos University or UDIMA, follow the procedure established by the University, which is described below:

1) Once the application for admission has been submitted with the required documentation and verified by the admissions service, the student will be scheduled for an interview, either in person or via videoconference. The student must bring their national identity card or passport to verify their identity.

2) URJC and UDIMA have established a personal and/or telematic interview, where appropriate, and an assessment of academic records that serve to evaluate the elements related to the academic and professional success of each student and to detect their specific training needs.

In the specific case of the University Master's Degree in the European Union and China, the entrance tests at both Universities will consist of a personal interview or by videoconference in Spanish, to check the level of the student's language and the academic record will also be assessed.

These entrance interviews have a guiding nature. They will serve to evaluate the elements related to the academic and professional success of the student who wishes to enroll, as well as their specific training needs and motivations to complete the Master's Degree. The Director of the Master will be in charge of carrying out the personal assessment of the academic record.

The assessment criteria for the admission of students will be weighted as follows:

  • Personal interview: 30-40%
  • Academic record: 50-60%.
  • Professional experience: 10-20%. 

The results of the entrance exam will be used to prepare a Personalized Learning Plan. This plan will include a series of basic recommendations to maximize each student's abilities or to foster the acquisition of new ones that will contribute to academic success and, subsequently, professional success.

3) All students admitted after the selection procedure receive a letter from the University, indicating their admission to the university program for which they have taken and passed admission tests.

Offer of places: 50 places. If the minimum number of students envisaged is not reached in a course, the University may choose not to open the teaching group.

Mobility programs

University Master's degrees, due to their duration and characteristics, in general do not specifically contemplate the mobility of their students. However, the Rey Juan Carlos University has different mobility programs for both students and University workers (PDI and PAS) and has procedures for collecting and analyzing information on these mobility programs. The management of all the mobility programs of the University is centralized in the Office of the Vice President for International Relations and any student of the University can participate in them.

  • Article 6.1.2. The favorable resolution of the request for total cancellation of registration does not necessarily imply the refund of the amount paid by the student. To do this, the requirements established in the Article 10.3 of the present regulations.
  • Article 11.3.  The extension of the period of permanence will be requested through the procedure established for this purpose by the Rey Juan Carlos University in the electronic office, within the established period. The Rector may authorize the continuation of studies in those cases in which exceptional causes, duly documented, have affected the academic performance of the students., valid for that academic year (up to a maximum of one year)
  • Article 11.4.  In accordance with what is established by the Article 4 of these regulations, those students whose request to remain is resolved favorably will have to enroll in all the remaining subjects to complete their studies.
  • Article 11.5.  For subjects with an indefinite call, once the extension of the permanence period is granted, the fees corresponding to the second and successive registrations will be paid according to the corresponding Public Price Decree as long as they have been previously enrolled in that subject.
  • Article 12.4.  Once this is granted, the student must enroll in accordance with the provisions of the Article 4 of the present regulations.
  • Article 12.5.  For subjects with an indefinite call, once continuity in the University Master's studies is granted, the fees corresponding to the second and successive registrations will be paid according to the corresponding Public Price Decree as long as they have been previously enrolled in that subject.

The Quality Assurance System of the Rey Juan Carlos University establishes that the degree's Quality Assurance Commission will annually analyze the information derived from the degree's indicators and prepare a report that will include improvement plans if the results so indicate.

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT). The renewal of the accreditation of official bachelor's and master's degrees is organized in three phases: self-assessment report, external visit and final assessment.

In the first phase, the university describes and assesses the status of the degree with respect to the established criteria and guidelines. The result is the Self-Assessment Report (IA) that is presented. The second and third phases are carried out by a group of evaluators external to the evaluated title.”
