Doctoral thesis

The doctoral thesis will consist of an original research work prepared by the candidate in any field of knowledge specific to the doctoral program. The thesis must train the doctoral student for autonomous work in the field of R&D&i, and must be framed in one of the lines of research that make up the doctoral programme. The doctoral student who wishes to deposit the doctoral thesis for its reading and defense, will have the prior favorable report of the thesis director/s. Once the thesis has been deposited and the defense of the doctoral thesis has been authorized, and at the proposal of the Academic Committee of the doctoral program, the Management Committee will appoint the thesis committee.

DEPOSIT APPLICATION FOR THE DEFENSE OF THE DOCTORAL THESIS

The doctoral student who wishes to deposit the doctoral thesis for its reading and defense must present in the General Registry, Auxiliary Records of the Rey Juan Carlos University Campus or in the Electronic Office from the Rey Juan Carlos University the following documentation:

• Thesis deposit form
• Form of the report of the thesis director for the authorization of the defense of the doctoral thesis
• Two copies of the doctoral thesis on paper and two copies of the thesis digitized in pdf format on CD.

• Copy of the published article that includes part of the results of the thesis and, where appropriate, a letter signed by each of the co-authors authorizing said publication to be used in the scope of the thesis, as specified in point 3 of the Article 23 of the Regulations governing doctoral studies at the Rey Juan Carlos University. Required for all articles in thesis by compendium.
• Declaration form responsible for informing collaborators. Essential even if there are no co-authors in the contributions published or accepted up to the defense date
• Proposal form for members of the doctoral thesis tribunal
• Equivalent Research Merits Evaluation Form
• Research ethics form.
• PDF file each contributions published, accepted or available in online prepublication repositories (eg arXiv or bioRxiv) that include part of the results of the doctoral thesis.
• Authorization form for co-authors in published, accepted contributions or in online repositories of pre-publications (one form signed by each co-author on each publication or one form signed by all co-authors on each publication).
• Similarity justification report (only in the case of the Academic Commission of the Doctoral Program requests it).

• Industrial mention application form
• Industrial research or experimental development project report (approved by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program).
• Labor or commercial contract(s) with companies.
• Framework collaboration agreement (if applicable).

• Certificate of completion of research stays (one for each research stay outside Spain)

Once the documentation has been received, the Academic Committee of the doctoral program will meet to authorize, where appropriate, the presentation of the thesis and designate the proposal for the composition of the thesis evaluation committee. Next, 15 calendar days will be granted, so that any doctor can examine it and, where appropriate, formulate as many allegations as it deems appropriate. Once the deposit period has elapsed, and in view of the reports provided by the Academic Committee, the Management Committee will decide whether or not the thesis is admitted for processing and will appoint the thesis committee.

After passing this procedure, the act of defense of the thesis will be communicated by the secretary of the court to the International Doctoral School at least 15 calendar days before its celebration.
