Home

The title serves so that people with intellectual disabilities acquire knowledge in different legal matters and can access more important jobs in society.

 The degree will train students to:

  • Being able to teach other people about the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Being able to work as legal assistants in companies related to the administration of justice (consultancies, law firms, etc.).

The objective of the title is to train and create quality employment for people with intellectual disabilities in a university environment. Students will have a university recognition to favor their future inclusion in the work environment as disseminators and trainers.

During the 2 years that the degree lasts, there will be external internships as disseminators in matters of rights in Special Employment Centers, Special Education Centers, and Occupational Centers, as well as in law firms, where students will be able to carry out

their practices as paralegals.

Objectives

The title wants:

  1. Promote the social and labor autonomy of the student.
  2. Empower people with intellectual disabilities by teaching specific knowledge that allows them to broaden their work horizons.
  3. Train people with intellectual disabilities in the knowledge of their rights and that they are part of their lives.
  4. Create quality jobs as legal trainers in different fields such as education and business, and as legal assistants in companies.
  5. Impact on society and public opinion to overcome the limits and barriers that exist on intellectual disability.
  6. Promote diversity within the university environment, and collaboration between degree students and those pursuing higher studies at the URJC.

The URJC with this title becomes a very advanced University since it is the first time that a university provides such specialized training, linked to a highly qualified work environment such as the legal one.

Competences

GENERAL COMPETENCIES

  • The student will be able to act as a trainer-disseminator on the rights of people with ID in different environments such as educational, health, legal and specifically in the environment of disability (Schools, health centers, Special Centers for Employment, Occupational Centers, Foundations/Associations, etc.).
  • The student will be able to carry out auxiliary tasks as a legal consultant.
  • The student will be able to carry out administrative functions linked to the administration of justice, especially in law firms and legal consultancies.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCES

  • General knowledge of law as an instrument for regulating social relations
  • Knowledge of the fundamental rights recognized in the Constitution and its defense instruments, with special reference to their exercise by people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of civil law, and its most relevant institutions.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of labor law and its most relevant institutions.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of tax law, and its most relevant institutions.
  • Knowledge of the main rights that assist people with ID in the field of health care.
  • Students will be able to search legal databases
  • Students will be trained to identify legal problems related to people with intellectual disabilities and make the referral to the specialist of the competent branch of law in each case.
  • Students will learn the main forms and administrative and judicial procedures in the field of civil, fiscal and labor law.
  • Students will be trained to carry out administrative tasks of a paralegal nature, such as monitoring deadlines, filling in forms, requesting certifications and simple notes before the registries, procedures to obtain NIEs, requests for documentation from translators and notaries, procedures for legalization of documents abroad, procedures related to notarizing social agreements, procedures related to the request for electronic signature, etc.

Recipients

The course is aimed at young people with intellectual disabilities between 18 and 30 years of age who have communication, oral and written skills and a sufficient level of independence to move around in a university environment. 

It will be required as a requirement not to have serious behavioral problems and not to have mental health problems.

The final selection of the students will be made through a committee made up of professionals from the URJC and professionals from the Esfera Foundation, a psychologist and a social worker.

Selection criteria:

In the event that the number of registered people is greater than the number of places, a selection will be made taking into account the following criteria:

Total title price: 8.500 euros. Each course: 4.250 euros

Possibility of scholarship (if applicable):

Pre-registration: 25 euros.

This amount is included in the total price of the course and will be returned if you are not admitted to the Degree.

If the student's request is accepted and the student does not register, the 25 euros will not be returned.

Students with a degree obtained from a Spanish university or a Higher Education Institution belonging to another Member State of the European Higher Education Area that authorizes access to own postgraduate degrees must present the following documentation:

Students with a foreign degree must present the following documentation:

  • Passport or Residence Card
  • Foreign Higher Education Degree (Graduate, Graduate, Architect, Engineer Doctor...) that give access to own postgraduate degree studies.
  • Certificate certifying that the studies carried out give access to an Official Postgraduate Degree in your country of origin, issued by the University of origin
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Declaration of the person responsible for the veracity of the data provided in digital format
  • Any other document that the Director of the Own Title specifically requires for its acceptance

Applicants with studies completed in foreign University Centers may be requested at any time a certificate of verification of these studies and centers, issued by an authorized Institution.
