Presentation and competitions

Telecommunications are a backbone of modern societies and, as a consequence, communications technologies constitute one of the most active areas of research in developed countries. Both the Carlos III University of Madrid and the Rey Juan Carlos University opted years ago for the Telecommunications Engineering offer and the creation of Departments with a very solid training of their Doctor Professors in cutting-edge R&D topics in the field of Communications. and Multimedia Processing. Based on the collaboration between the Departments of Signal Theory and Communications of both institutions, the Interuniversity Doctorate Program in Multimedia and Communications was created (coordinated by the Univ. Carlos III of Madrid), adapted to Royal Decree 99/2011 and distinguished with "Mention towards Excellence" by the Ministry of Education (courses 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14).

Multimedia and Communications technologies constitute one of the most important areas in the world of Telecommunications, as they seek to solve problems of broadband transmission, treatment, ubiquitous distribution in communications networks and management of information and multimedia content, aspects increasingly relevant in a knowledge and content-oriented society.

Under this Doctorate, the aim is to prepare professionals with a high degree of scientific and technical training, capable of contributing to and leading innovation and development projects, as well as the training of researchers with the capacity to join competitive research teams, within the various disciplines taught in the program.

General information collection plan

Within the quality assurance system of the Rey Juan Carlos University, the following surveys are being carried out as part of the general information collection plan:

    • Survey addressed to new students of doctoral programs
    • Doctoral student satisfaction survey with the doctoral program
    • Satisfaction surveys of the doctoral student with the training activities of the doctoral program
    • Assessment surveys of supervisors and thesis tutors
    • Faculty satisfaction survey with the doctoral program

Survey results:

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT). The renewal of the accreditation of official bachelor's and master's degrees is organized in three phases: self-assessment report, external visit and final assessment.

In the first phase, the university describes and assesses the status of the degree with respect to the established criteria and guidelines. The result is the Self-Assessment Report (IA) that is presented. The second and third phases are carried out by a group of evaluators external to the evaluated title.”
