Academic Recognition of Credits

La subject Academic Recognition of Credits (RAC), common to all official Degree qualifications that are taught in any of the URJC's own Centers (whether in-person, blended or non-face-to-face), addresses the participation of students in cultural events and/programs, sports, student representation, solidarity and cooperation, as well as other academic activities that the university organizes for teaching purposes so that they can complete their curricular development with activities complementary to their degree.

To pass the subject, students will have to recognize 6 ECTS credits, of which they will be mandatory 2 ECTS credits for completing two activities/courses of your choice from among those mandatory training activities offered by the University.

The remaining credits, in each case, may be obtained both through the activities programmed by the Rey Juan Carlos University, as well as through those that are external, according to the particular interests of each student.

Catalog of activities

The computer application RAC will remain open throughout the academic year, to request these credit recognitions for activities that do not involve automatic transfer, and the student may submit his/her request at any time during the course.

The student must provide the certificate of completion of the activity through the RAC application

Mandatory training activities

These activities do not imply the issuance of any certificate of achievement. HE will automatically recognize with a PASS in the established periods, which you can consult in the deadlines and procedures tab:

    1. Automatic recognition activities. No certificate will be issued and within a period of no more than 15 days from their evaluation, they will appear recognized in the RAC application.
    2. Manual recognition activities. A certificate of achievement will be issued, which the student must upload to the RAC platform for recognition.

External training activities

They are those that the student chooses according to his interests. Such activities must have, for the purposes of the academic recognition of ECTS credits, an annual Program for approval by the Vice-Rector for Academic Planning, specifying the credits requested for recognition in relation to the hours of duration of the corresponding activity.

Search and Access to Scientific Information (1 ECTS)

This training activity has the purpose of achieving the acquisition of digital skills in the area of ​​information and data literacy.

This training activity will allow you to detect possible needs for scientific information, recover and manage scientific information and be able to correctly carry out class work, Bachelor's and Master's Thesis (TFG, TFM), scientific works and doctoral thesis.

This training activity is mandatory and free to pass the subject "Academic Recognition of Credits". It is recognized with 1 ECTS credit.

This activity will be developed through theoretical sessions and practical activities. The theoretical sessions will have teaching material prepared by the library's training staff. At the end of each thematic unit of the program, recommended practical activities will be proposed to strengthen the contents of the topic covered. To pass the activity, enrolled students must:

Why an activity on Search and access to Scientific Information?

With the inclusion of the subject on Search and access to scientific information, it is intended to introduce in the training of students, the acquisition of informational competences (CI), in accordance with the new challenges that Universities must face in the face of the information society. , challenges that entail significant changes in the teaching model and that involve the incorporation of information and communication technologies.

Students who have begun undergraduate studies from the 2014-15 academic year inclusive must obtain 2 ECTS credits for completing two activities/courses of their choice from among those proposed by the University, including the course "Search and Access to Scientific Information (1 ECTS)

What is?

To retrieve and manage scientific information.
To be able to perform correctly:

When can I do the activity? When does the work have to be done and when do I have to deliver it?

What does the activity consist of and how can I get 1 ECTS credit?

This activity will be developed through theoretical sessions and practical activities. The theoretical sessions will have didactic material prepared by the training librarians. At the end of each thematic unit of the program, the student must carry out the corresponding practical activities and the self-assessment exercises that are included in each topic.
To obtain the RAC certificate, enrolled students must:
- Carry out the practical activities and self-assessment exercises, corresponding to each topic of the Program, developing them within the periods indicated at the beginning of the program.
- Get the rating of SUITABLE.

How can I ask questions and raise doubts?

Through the Virtual Classroom, within the compulsory training activity, you will have two Forums to ask questions and doubts:
- General: about the activity
- Specific: of each theme
All the theoretical and practical material will be at your disposal in the Virtual Classroom, from the beginning of the session in which you are registered and admitted.

When and how will I know if I have obtained the APTO qualification?

In each four-month period, in the virtual classroom, information on the different phases of development of the activity will be published in the "News" section.

When will I have recognized the 1 ECTS credit?

On the dates established by the Academic Credit Recognition Unit, the Library will send the list of students who have passed the activity and from that moment credit recognition will be managed.

Can I do this activity if I am a student of a course prior to 2014-2015?

Yes. You will have to register by completing a form and you will carry out the activity through the Virtual Classroom. In your case, this activity is voluntary. At the end of the activity, you will also obtain 1 ECTS credit

Improving Employability (1 ECTS)

This training activity is designed to help students in their job search, job placement and professional development.

The objective is to provide a series of tools and strategies useful in the design of one's professional career and the active search for employment, whether self-employed or employed.

This training activity is mandatory and free to pass the subject "Academic Recognition of Credits". It is recognized with 1 ECTS credit.

Registration

Students who have enrolled since the 2015-16 academic year or later years will be able to carry out the activity through a virtual classroom without having to register. Registrations prior to this period will be voluntary and must be accessed through the following links:

At the end of each topic, a self-assessment consisting of 5 multiple choice questions will be carried out. You have to get more than 60% correct to pass.

The self-assessment of the 8 topics can be repeated, as many times as necessary, to exceed 60%.

Is there a credit limit per recognized activity?

An activity can never exceed 2 ECT credits of recognition.

Is there a fee to pay to carry out the RAC?

I have carried out activities when I was studying another Degree. Can this activity be recognized?

 No, according to article 2 of the regulations for academic credit recognition of degree studies at the URJC, only the student's participation in university activities carried out during the period in which the corresponding degree education is completed may be recognized.

Can work or professional experience be recognized?

Undergraduate students will not be able to obtain recognition of credits for carrying out internships in companies, whether of a curricular or extracurricular nature; Nor is the recognition of credits for work activities contemplated.

I have carried out some studies not foreseen in my study agreement during the mobility (SICUE, ERASMUS etc.) Can these activities be recognised?

You can obtain up to a maximum of 4 ECTS credits for these activities. There are two ways for your Recognition:

  • Equivalence Agreement.
  • Activities outside the Equivalence Agreement.

Can extracurricular external internships be recognized?

No, undergraduate students will not be able to obtain recognition of credits for carrying out internships in companies, whether they are curricular or extracurricular in nature; Nor is the recognition of credits for work activities contemplated.

I was awarded a collaboration scholarship, can I request recognition?

No, collaboration scholarships cannot be recognized because they are not cultural, sports, student representation, solidarity and cooperation university activities.

Is there a seniority limit for the activities or studies that you submit for recognition?

No, the activities do not expire, but they must be carried out during the period in which the degree is taken. For example, if I start the degree and carry out a RAC activity and for various reasons I abandon my studies and, later, when a few years pass, I return to them, that activity could be recognized.

What grade will I get for my recognitions?

The grade for each of the activities will be PASS/NOT PASS

Can I as a student organize a RAC activity?

Students interested in organizing an activity must submit the corresponding request to the Vice-Rector's Office for Academic Planning, accompanied by a report issued by the competent body (department, Faculty, School, Center, etc.) indicating the program or development. of the activity, its objectives, and duration.
