Medical image processing. Application for the early detection of melanoma.

The Higher School of Telecommunications Engineering organizes a conference of interest to the FCS university community on March 13 at the Fuenlabrada campus. The presentation will be given by Prof. Dimitris Glotsos, from the University of West Attica (Athens).

The objectives of this conference are:

Review the basic principles of operation of modern medical imaging systems.
Review the basic principles of medical image processing methodologies.
Present clinical examples of application of the techniques mentioned above in the real world.
Review decision support systems used as second opinion tools to guide clinicians towards more accurate and reproducible decisions.
To present an example of a research decision support system, developed for the early detection of Melanoma.
