"Emotions with legs" trains elementary students in empathy towards animals
El Sunrise School of Alcorcón (Madrid) has incorporated the Animal Assisted Intervention Program (IAA) 'Emociones con Patas' as part of the curricular subject 'Learn by Doing'.
The 'Emociones con Patas' program has been designed by the Animals and Society Chair of the Rey Juan Carlos University and the professional teams of CITA Therapies and Animals and PsicoAnimal.
The purpose of the program is to enhance the benefits of training in empathy towards animals as a strategy to prevent interpersonal violence, and specifically bullying in school.
Training in values, the design of animal-assisted interventions and the fight against all forms of violence is in the DNA of the Animals and Society Chair.
The Chair of Animals and Society is directed by Nuria Máximo Bocanegra, professor at the Department of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine at the URJC.
