Three ESCET professors receive the first prize in the VII Call for Innovative Professors of the URJC for a pilot experience of group TFG based on the ApS methodology

The award-winning initiative, led by Isabel Sierra, Sonia Morante and Judith Gañán, has consisted of a Group End-of-Degree Project experience with ApS methodology. The project "Food has no waste"offered a training service on food waste, through social networks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The experience has been carried out during the 2019/2020 academic year with three 4th year students of the Food Science and Technology degree, who have worked to provide a training/education service to citizens to contribute to the reduction of food waste. This is one of the goals to be achieved within the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: “Sustainable production and consumption”.

The service has been offered through the Instagram account @feedinghasnowaste, through which the students have made this problem known and have shown advice and recommendations so that the followers can contribute to the reduction of this problem. The account has been very well received, with nearly 200 followers, who through a survey have stated that they are very satisfied with the content shown. In addition, about 93% of those surveyed have stated that they would like to be able to continue learning through this type of project.

The realization of this group TFG has shown that the coordinated work between teachers allows students to carry out much broader and more ambitious projects, and that its development through the ApS methodology allows students to learn while offering a service , developing numerous curricular and social skills.

The winners thank ESCET for its institutional support throughout the development of the project, as well as the help received through the 2020 Call for aid to carry out Teaching Innovation activities.
