Spiders: harmless, essential and without a day to celebrate them

Posted by ESCET Communication Subdirectorate

Spiders play a fundamental role in ecosystems, since they regulate the populations of insects and other Arthropods, on which they feed. Despite this indispensable role, and despite being harmless to people, they are the object of unjustified rejection. However, on Halloween, we all think of spiders in a positive way. Is this festivity an opportunity to raise awareness and divulge about the essential role played by these animals and dispel the fear they arouse?

ESCET researchers have written an interesting article to raise awareness and inform about spiders. You can read the whole text here. The proposal was carried out on social networks under the hashtags #worldspiderday and #diamundialarañas. Do you dare to participate next year?
