#PorTodos: how to communicate sexist violence, in the FCCOM

Posted by FCCOM

On April 10, the La Marea team will give a masterclass on how to communicate well about sexist violence and will present its project #PorTodas

What are we doing wrong when we talk about sexist violence? What do we have to ask? How do we communicate sexist violence well? These are some of the questions that arise when observing the current media coverage of this scourge that has cost the lives of almost 1000 women since 2003.

To answer these and other questions, the University Association of Journalism ECOalong with the magazine The tide, present the activity "Communicating about sexist violence, the #PorTodas" project, which seeks a new way of communicating about sexist violence that is more responsible with society and with the problem it entails.

The newspaper La Marea, in order to correct the still current trend of victimizing the victim, of denying the murders camouflaging them as "deaths at the hands of", of setting them aside as events or not investigating beyond the specific event, among other issues, has March #For all: a new section in which sexist crimes are investigated to find out the background, the measures that have been taken, the facts and the actions subsequent to the murder.

The director of The Tide, magda flag, and the photographer and graphic editor of #Por Todos, Alvaro Minguito, they will present the #PorTodas section at the university and will hold a masterclass on communication of sexist violence in the media.
