Until July 11 you can enjoy at the 2 de Mayo Art Center an exhibition in homage to the Madrid author Javier Utray, which has four sections where his artistic activity is told.

First, there is a section where Javier Utray's architectural projects stand out, which were carried out in La Manga del Mar Menor and in Benidorm.

The following section compiles the author's work between the 70s and early 80s. In turn, different compositions by other authors of his generation such as Carlos Alcolea, Carlos Franco, Santiago Serrano, Nacho Criado and Chema Cobo are exhibited.

This is followed by the editorial work of Javier Utray in the 80s. La Luna de Madrid, Sur Express, El Paseante and the last period of El Europeo are some of the projects that can be found in the section. In addition to files, texts and images of the same.

Finally, there will be a section with the plastic creation of Utray that he made until his death in 2008.

The evolution of comics in Spain

The Moda Shopping Mall offers an exhibition on the evolution of comics until May 2. It seeks to give a vision of the true value of the comic in popular culture in Spain and therefore its sociological importance.

The exhibition has 250 pieces from different fields of comics, whether they are youth, adventure, children's comics, etc. The Catalan magazine that gave its name to the TBO genre stands out above all in the exhibition.

Some of the most popular comics that can be found are Captain Thunder, Guerrero del Mask, Spiderman or Spirit; the youth comic with Mortadelo and Filemón (1970), Esther and her world (1971), Zipi and Zape (1972), or SuperLópez (1975).

All this in addition to giving visibility to new authors such as Miguel Gallardo, Javier Olivares or Paco Roca.

The Carmen Laffón exhibition, in which fifty paintings are exhibited showing the salt flats of Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz), remains open until May 23 at the Royal Botanical Garden.

An exhibition where you can see the splendid views of the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, between Cádiz and Huelva. An extraordinary landscape with key elements such as the horizon or the salt flats that abound in the landscape.

The artist who stars in this exhibition, Carmen Laffón, is a painter and sculptor  considered one of the most important of the last century. She was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts and named a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. She was also awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts from the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
