The "Berlanguian Cinematographic Art" arrives at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando

 

“Berlangian. Luis García Berlanga (1921-2021)” is an audiovisual sample that presents the film career of the screenwriter and director, Luis García Berlanga; as well as the Spanish life of his time portrayed by legendary national and international photographers.

 The Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando (located at Calle de Alcalá number 13) exhibits until September 5 more than one hundred and seventy photographs from different archives and public and private photographic collections. Note that the visitor can enjoy photographs of the filmmaker, of his shooting, snapshots of the author, scripts, sketches, scripts that did not materialize... All of this in his great films like The executioner, welcome, Mr. Marshall! Y No man's land, among many others.

 It is an audiovisual exhibition that, through twelve screens, shows the complexity of its shots and the referents of Berlanga's singular identity; as well as a video that pays tribute to the “Berlanguian” performers that he directed throughout his artistic life. You can also enjoy pictures of the meetings  of one of the most significant authors of the Spanish culture of the XNUMXth century with celebrities from the world of cinema such as Joan Crawford, Federico Fellini, Giulietta Masina, Carlos Saura... among others.

Audiovisual tour of the Madrid of Pérez Galdós (1862-1920)

 

Until September 15, the Madrid History Museum, located in the Fuencarral Street, 78, ofrece the exhibition “Madrid 1862-1920: Galdós, story of a new urban landscape” with a pioneering audiovisual creation in museums. Visitors will be able to enjoy a fascinating tour thanks to the new audiovisual technologies that offer a unique experience where they will be able to immerse themselves in photographs, posters, postcards, prints and paintings from the Madrid period of Benito Pérez Galdós (1862-1920).

It is the first time that, through an innovative design and advanced technology, it is possible to rebuild and live a Madrid that awakened to modernity and progress (the arrival of running water, lighting, trams, the construction of the the Ensanche area, the use of new construction materials…) and of which Galdós was a visual and emotional testimony. A high-tech exhibition that takes us back to this wonderful city of the late XNUMXth and early XNUMXth centuries.

Expressionism, dance and gestures in the photography of Barbara Morgan (PhotoESPAÑA 2021)

Within the PhotoESPAÑA 2021 Festival, the Museum of Romanticism (Calle de San Mateo, 13) presents an exhibition by the American photographer Barbara Morgan (1900-1992) until September 26. In this exhibition you can see photomontages, light drawings and dance photographs, creations from the 30s and 40s considered masterpieces of modern photographic art.

Barbara Morgan, born in Buffalo (United States) in 1900, began painting and after marrying the photographer Willard D. Morgan, specialized in photography always in black and white. He was influenced by abstract designs and figurative illustrations. Beginning in 1935 he photographed more than 40 dancers and choreographers including Martha Graham.

It should be noted that she had great interest in photography being considered another discipline of art and for this she co-founded the opening magazine in 1951. Renowned visual artist Man Ray influenced Barbara Morgan in her developed methods for composing abstract stills, photomontages, and landscape images.
