The student from the Faculty of Communication Sciences at URJC has managed to carve out a position as a collaborator at EDM Radio after her internship.

The student from Madrid is finishing her last Audiovisual Communication course at the Madrid-Vicálvaro campus. Her main objective is to continue training and take advantage of all the opportunities that life offers her; although, her main goal is to be able to dedicate herself to the world of cinema, in the not too distant future.

Q: Why did you decide to study Audiovisual Communication?

A: Since I started ESO I was interested in video editing and consumed a lot of content on YouTube. I recorded and edited videos of my trips and with my friends. I saw that I was not bad at it and decided to study this career.

Q: How did you find the internship at EDM Radio?

A: It was quite difficult to find internships during this course. In the end I found these internships thanks to the URJC External Internships platform.

Q: What does your job consist of?

A: I write articles for the radio website, I cover events such as concerts and musical presentations and I do interviews with singers. I also do work such as editing spots and audio files, radio announcer and sound technician.

Q: What topics do you address in your program?

A: Being a music radio, we mainly talk about music news, although the sections I write about on the web are about social networks and cultural events.

Q: What topics do you like to deal with the most?

A: I really like talking about social networks. I think they are boosting users' creativity a lot and have become an essential step within the music industry in terms of distribution and promotion.

Q: What do you like most about working in radio?

A: I love being in touch with the real world and the music industry. Audio and radio were not my favorite fields during my degree, but I am discovering many details that are hooking me to this world.

Q: According to your preferences, what do you like to do more: magazines or news?

A: I like the formula magazine and radio format more, since I consider that to do news, another type of training more linked to journalism is required.

Q: This year it has been generally more difficult to get internships due to the pandemic. Did you encounter any problems when it came to finding internships?

A: As I mentioned before, it was the most difficult, probably due to the pandemic. I started looking for internships in September and until February I didn't get anything. It was quite frustrating, since there was nothing he could do but wait.

Q: What are your expectations for the future?

A: I would like to continue training and find internships more directly related to cinema, which is what really interests me. It is very difficult to find opportunities in filming or production companies due to the pandemic and reduced crews.

Q: What advice would you give to those who want or are studying the same as you?

A: I would tell them that if they really like to create audiovisual content, see the subjects that are less related to that as a simple procedure and not be discouraged from taking them. Having your own initiative is also very important, sometimes you learn more outside of class than inside it.
