The "Chemobrain" project best research initiative in the IX Young Entrepreneurial Psychologists Award

The professors of our Faculty Irene Peláez Cordeiro, David Ferrera, Irina Toader and Roberto Fernándes have been the winners

 

La IX Edition of the Young Entrepreneurial Psychologists Award 2019, is sponsored by the Faculty of Psychology of the UNED, the Cardenal Cisneros Higher Education Center, the Complutense University of Madrid, the Camilo José Cela University and TEA Ediciones Y GIUNTIEOS, as well as the collaboration of the General Council of Psychology of Spain and FIAP.

The objective of the award is to promote the initiative, creativity and innovation of young psychologists from Spain and from Latin American countries.


The award has two categories: Research Initiative and Business Initiative. In this case, the teachers Irene Peláez Cordeiro, David Ferrera, Irina Toader and Roberto Fernándes have won the award for the best research initiative for the project "Chemobrain: Neuropsychological evaluation of cognitive impairment associated with chemotherapy treatment in a sample of patients with breast cancer" 

The objective of this study is to determine the profile of cognitive impairment or "Chemobrain" associated with the administration of chemotherapy in a sample of patients with breast cancer, with a view to the foundation of a future cognitive rehabilitation program. For this, a neuropsychological evaluation will be carried out before the administration of chemotherapy, immediately after treatment and 6 months after its completion.
