The San Juan de Dios Nursing and Physiotherapy Contest awards two works by our faculty

The two awards, for Nursing and Physiotherapy (in the "Hospitality" modality), reward three professors from the Department of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine 

El 40th Nursing Contest and the 11th San Juan de Dios Physiotherapy Contest of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, fails its awards of the 2020 call. The modalities are: 

  • Research work. Prize of 3.000 Euros.
  • Investigation project. Prize of 4.000 Euros.
  • End of Degree Project. Scholarship of up to 600 Euros.
  • Master's thesis. Scholarship of up to 1.200 Euros
  • Special Hospitality Prize: Prize of 1.500 Euros.

This year, the Special Hospitality AwardHas been granted to two research works of our Factulad, specifically to three professors of the Department of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine, who are also members of the Research Group in Humanities and Qualitative Research in Health Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University. The teachers are Domingo Palacios Ceña, Javier Güeita Rodríguez and Jorge Pérez Corrales.  

Professors Domingo Palacios Ceña and Jorge Pérez Corrales have been awarded with the hospitality prize by Nursing, with the work entitled: 'Being normal' and self-identity: the experience of volunteering in individuals with severe mental disorders-a qualitative study, which has also been published in the magazine BMJ Open in 2019 and in which other professors from the aforementioned department collaborate, specifically from the Occupational Therapy area. This work explores the experiences and points of view of a group of people with severe mental disorders who perform volunteer services.

Professor Javier Güeita Rodríguez received the hospitality award for Physiotherapy, with the article entitled The impact of home-based physical rehabilitation program on parents' experience with children in palliative care: a qualitative study, published in the magazine European Journal of Physical Rehabilitation Medicine in 2019. The objective of this work was to explore the experiences of parents regarding the implementation of a physical rehabilitation program in pediatric palliative care.

The awards will be delivered at the headquarters of the School of San Juan de Dios, in a ceremony on October 16 at 12 noon.
