Roberto Cano receives 2 awards at the Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Neurology

The awards, which received the mention of “stellar communications”, were awarded to 2 oral communications presented at the Demyelinating Diseases Roundtable I.

From October 31 to November 4, the LXXV Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Neurology was held in Valencia, to which Dr. Roberto Cano attended to present two oral communications within the Table of Demyelinating Diseases I, and which were chosen within of the mention category of “stellar communications” among those defended in Congress.

The contents were related to the use of virtual reality and serious games in the treatment of upper limb disorders in patients with multiple sclerosis in a rehabilitation context. Specifically, the titles of the oral communications were:

  • Design of serious games for the treatment of upper limb disorders in patients with multiple sclerosis (Cano de la Cuerda, Roberto; Jardón Huete, Alberto; Oña Simbaña, Edwin Daniel; Marcos Antón, Selena) 
  • Treatment using the MYO Armband® system and serious games on muscle strength, manipulative skills, fatigue and quality of life in multiple sclerosis. Randomized controlled trial (Cano de la Cuerda, Roberto; Jardón Huete, Alberto; Oña Simbaña, Edwin Daniel; Marcos Antón, Selena)

Both communications are based on a collaboration between professors from the UC3M, from the Robotics Laboratory, and professors and researchers from the FCS of the URJC. They are the result of the doctoral thesis of Ms. Selena Marcos Antón, directed by Roberto at the International Doctoral School in the Health Sciences Program, and line of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine. It will be defended expectedly in the month of December 2023, having already been deposited.
