The value of Research for the eradication of poverty

Yesterday, October 16, the Observatory for Analysis and Visibility of Social Exclusion (OEX) of the URJC, directed by our colleague Silvia Giménez Rodríguez, commemorated the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and Social Exclusion with a day. A conference with the OEX motto, "Research to Transform", presented its latest research: A scale to help prevent homelessness funded by the Madrid City Council, and "Homeless LGBT people, stressful life events and minority stress" Cum Laude thesis presented by its author José Gabriel Rodríguez Pérez. In addition, Sonia Panadero from the UCM presented a study on Stressful Life Events and health in homeless women."

The Deputy Director General of Social Services and Social Emergency and the Director General of Firefighters until May, Director General of Emergencies of the Madrid City Council, were present.

This Conference served to present the OEX-Social Responsibility 2023 recognitions, for social commitment to the most vulnerable people, to SAMUR SOCIAL of the Madrid City Council, collected by Mar López Jiménez, head of Samur Social. AM Jesús Utrilla Moya and Juan Antonio Belmar Good and with special affection To Darío Pérez Madera, the soul of Samur Social for his inspiration and drive in the beginning, collecting the recognition, posthumously, his wife and his children . The Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Transfer was the one who presented them with the recognition.

This Conference, which had more than a hundred participants, was able to be held thanks to the collaboration of the Vice-Rector's Office for Community, Campus, Culture and Sports of the URJC and the Department of Historical and Social Studies, Spanish Language, Literature, Moral Philosophy and Specific Didactics.
