Last Friday, April 5, 2024, the Fuenlabrada Campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) became the epicenter of a profound political debate about Northern Ireland, marking an important milestone in political education and teaching innovation in Spain. In an unprecedented event, seven imaginary political parties, created by students of the Political System II subject of the Degree in Political Science and Public Management, faced each other in a second intense and revealing debate.

This simulation, which has involved students from both Vicálvaro and Fuenlabrada, is an integral part of the Teaching Innovation Project "Understanding Kratos", sponsored by the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FCJP) of the URJC. This project is a clear example of the university's commitment to the educational avant-garde and the comprehensive training of its students, and is framed within the activities of the Emerging Teaching Innovation Group in Government, Administration and Public Policies (GIDOGAP), highlighting the participation from teachers Mercedes Alda and Daniel Casal, among others.

The debate session, which lasted approximately two hours, was moderated by María Domínguez Valcarce, a prominent URJC alumni and current Communication Advisor in the Office of Ander Gil, Former President of the Senate. Domínguez's ability to guide the discussions not only evidenced the relevance of the topics discussed, but also highlighted the importance of oratory and argumentation in contemporary politics.

This event not only served as a platform for students to practically and creatively apply the knowledge they gained in the classroom, but also allowed them to explore the complexities of Northern Ireland politics and institutions in a unique and immersive way. By doing so, the URJC not only reaffirms its role as a leading institution in educational innovation, but also contributes significantly to the debate and understanding of international politics among youth.

The Rey Juan Carlos University continues to set the standard in political and administrative training, preparing its students to face the challenges of the future with solid knowledge, a critical mind and a global vision. This debate is a clear testament to the potential and quality of future URJC graduates, who are undoubtedly destined to become the leaders and reformers of tomorrow.
