First ESCET Employment Forum

Published by Subdirectorate of Communication, Promotion and Sustainable Development of the ESCET

One of the novelties of this academic year at the Higher School of Experimental Sciences and Technology is the organization of this forum, which will take place the next February 3 and 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 19:00 p.m..

This forum aims to be a meeting space between companies, institutions and our students. The main objective is to make our students aware of the widest possible range of professional opportunities related to their studies, as well as to facilitate contact with their potential employers and give them tools for an efficient job search.

The forum is Mainly aimed at 3rd and 4th grade students at ESCET, students of our master's degrees, as well as recent graduates. To encourage attendance on these two days, attempts have been made not to schedule classes or practices on the 3rd and 4th schedules for all grades. If successful, the intention is to hold it every two years.

The forum will take place in Classroom II of the Móstoles Campus and will be broadcast through Teams, although we believe that it is well worth attending in person. The program has been designed to try to cover the most interesting professional sectors of science and engineering. Therefore, during both days there will be permanently two parallel sessions in classrooms 001 and 002, as well as stands of companies, professional associations and university services in the hall of the building.

To facilitate attendance, the activities (talks, round tables, workshops) will be grouped into these four sectors:

Industrial sector (energy, transport, production, automation, consulting)

Health, biotechnology, environmental and food sectors

Transversal sector 1 (research, teaching, public employment, postgraduate training)

Transversal sector 2 (scientific communication, tools for job search and entrepreneurship)

We have invited professionals from more than 20 top-tier companies, such as Talgo, Airbus, Ferrovial, AENOR, Grupo Tragsa, Bosch, Bruker, Fisher Scientific, Adam Foods, Genyca, Eolion, and institutions such as the CSIC, Ciemat, Imdea Energía, Imdea Materials, Hospital La Paz, Imidra and UCM.

Alba Lancho, responsible for professional careers and corporate relations in the pharmaceutical industry, will carry out a participatory activity on how to create your personal brand and design a job search strategy.

Our Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I) has organized a round table entitled "Dissemination and scientific communication as professional opportunities", which will be attended by Raúl Limón, editor of the Science section of El País, Fernando Gordon, a specialist in Corporate Communication and director of Cícero Communication, and the mathematician and science communicator Santiago García Cremades. As a complement to this round table, students will be able to participate in the practical workshop "How to communicate science in the media", to learn the importance of knowing how to communicate scientific work. The session will be given by Alejando Carbonell, a member of the URJC Cyberimaginary Research Group and an expert in media education and scientific communication.

Some professional associations (COBCM, COGITIM) and in-house services will also be present, such as the Móstoles Business Incubator, the Official Master's School, the Alumni Orientation Service and the External Practices and Employment Unit.

It will soon be available on this link the definitive program and the registration system for face-to-face attendance, since we will have to respect the Covid capacity in the classrooms at all times.

Hope you like it!
