The FCCOM celebrates the 2019 Graduation Ceremony

Posted by Germán Cardenete Medina

More than 700 graduates attended the massive ceremony on June 1

The afternoon of June 1 was not just any afternoon. The warm rays of the sun illuminated Fuenlabrada. Under the entrance and the paths of the Campus, the posters and banners warned that today would be a special day: the graduation ceremony.

From three in the afternoon, the protocol and technical team was prepared while the students, accompanied by their relatives, timidly arrived at the Raúl González Blanco stadium. In less than two hours, with all the seats occupied, the atmosphere of festivity and joy flooded the venue. The public address signal notified the attendees of the start of the ceremony and it was then that the URJC choir got up to sing the University anthem. At that moment the entourage entered through the main corridor, formed by the deanship and vice-deanship of the Faculty and presided over by the rector of the University, Javier Ramos.

Already seated at the table, Javier Ramos gave the floor to the godparents of the degrees. The first to go to the lectern was the film editor, Ivan Aledo. As godfather of the degree in Audiovisual Communication, Iván emphasized taking advantage of any opportunity along the way to train and grow professionally. After his intervention I would follow José Antonio García Muñoz, better known as Citizen Garcia. The godfather of the Degree in Journalism put on a closer and more relaxed tone – where humor was not lacking – to penetrate the message that a good journalist must not only know how to report, but also know in depth everything that he reports. Lastly, the godfather of the Degree in Advertising and Public Relations spoke, Juan Sanchez. The creative vice president of TBWA Spain encouraged future advertisers to exploit creativity as a way of life.

Once the godparents' turn was over, the most awaited moment of the afternoon would arrive: the imposition of scholarships. One by one, students from each grade were called to the table to receive the scholarship. From the first rows it was seen how, the now graduates, were happy to greet their former teachers. A special moment that took up most of the ceremony as more than 700 students graduated.

However, the act could not end without the intervention of the students of each Grade. Peter Villafuentes, of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Business Administration and Management, Borja Camelelle and Daniel Delgado, by the Degree in Journalism, as well as Sandra Lizarraga and Alvaro Jorge Martin, from the Degree in Advertising and Public Relations, offered three speeches full of energy, ethical commitment, optimism and some notes of humor. The message permeated his teammates who responded with deafening applause. The speaking time was picked up by the Dean of the Faculty, Michael Baths. With warm words, the dean wished the graduates all the best in their future careers. After his intervention, the last words were those of Javier Ramos. Through an excellent speech, Javier Ramos encouraged the graduates to pursue their path and encouraged them to continue training in the university's postgraduate courses. After a great applause, the rector closed the ceremony when the sun was hiding at sunset.
