The student of the Degree in Journalism of the URJC, Lorena Carramolino Godoy, has managed to carve out a position as an intern at Radio Azul SER La Mancha.

The Madrilenian, who is in her last year of her degree, assures that her main objective is to achieve her dream of being a great journalism professional. She is aware that the first step to this is to take advantage of all the opportunities that life can offer her to learn and know the trade well.

Q: How did you find the internship at SER?

A: I decided to call Radio Azul of the Ser chain, which is one of the stations that is most listened to in my environment to see if they had any vacancies. They liked my profile and offered me a position as an intern.

Q: What does your job consist of?

A: I am in charge of the regional news and Hoy por Hoy Castilla-La Mancha; a radio magazine.

Q: What topics do you address in your program?

A: We usually deal with various topics related to current affairs in the region; politics, culture, important events, sports...

Q: What topics would you like to cover? Why?

A: I would like to report on the population of some areas, since the chain covers some towns that are very small and are at risk of depopulation.

Q: What do you like more to give the magazine or the news? Why?

A: In the magazine I learn a lot by debating and listening to different ideas from the professionals I work with, although I prefer to work in the news; I like to deal with current affairs.

Q: What difficulties did you encounter when looking for internships?

A: The difficulty I have encountered is that, due to the pandemic, companies have reduced the hiring of interns. In addition, the positions offered are blended sessions; I was looking for face-to-face practices where I could feel the atmosphere of a newsroom.

Q: Did you always know you wanted to be a journalist?

A: Yes, I knew it from a very young age. It is true that in the first year of my degree I had many doubts, since the subjects were not as I expected. However, over time my vocation has grown; I am very clear that this is the world I want to belong to.

Q: Where do you see yourself when you finish your degree?

A: I want to see myself working as a journalist and continue my training studying other specialties and other languages. Although it is true that the pandemic has complicated the task of entering the world of work.

Q: What is your biggest professional concern?

A: I am concerned that I am not a good communication professional. This is a profession that requires a great commitment, since very complicated subjects are dealt with. Therefore, I am taking advantage of my new job to learn from great professionals. I want to live from journalism; This is my professional and personal goal. I will do whatever it takes to make it happen.
