Mario De Las Sagras, writer and student at the Faculty of Communication Sciences: "Going on stage makes me dizzy and happy"

Written by Laura Maria Bajo Rosco

Mario De Las Sagras, known in his books and on social networks as Eme, is in the last year of the Journalism Degree at the Rey Juan Carlos University. His passion for poetry has taken him to the stage.

The interest in writing began in the second year of Baccalaureate, thanks to a math class. “It was a subject that I could not master and I reached an agreement with the teacher to devote myself to reading and writing during his classes,” says Mario De Las Sagras. From the beginning, he was already on stage and maintains that he never imagined putting out a book. Currently, he has two projects that his audience can enjoy: “The revolution of the senses” and “Excuse me, do you have a fire?”.

"There is a big difference between Mario and Eme," he clarifies. The student considers that Mario is a normal boy and Eme is his reflective character in charge of writing and showing his face in the recitals. His interest in current affairs and the fight against injustice has led Eme to base her poetry on politics and society, differentiating her from the rest. Despite being two different characters, both have a common goal: to improve society. That is why, in many of his performances, his readers are asked to bring a kilo of food in exchange for enjoying the recital, allocating it to the most needy.

Eme is very clear that the worst thing that can happen to an artist is to receive indifference. “Any type of sensation is worth me, as long as something moves inside people”, she maintains every time she is faced with presenting a poem. Among her new projects is the creation of a music group. The group, made up of friends, aims to launch audiobooks with poems recited and accompanied by music.
