Beach tourism from the 70s to the 90s has arrived in Madrid

The PhotoESPAÑA 2021 Festival hosts the photographic works of two artists, Carlos Pérez Siquier and Martin Parr, until September 5 with the collaboration of the Galería Blanca in Berlin. There you can enjoy a peculiar collection of photographs on beach tourism in Spain.

The photographer from Almería, Carlos Pérez Siquier, a pioneer of the photographic avant-garde in our country, portrays tourism on the coasts of Poniente and Cabo de Gata during the 70s and 90s with the arrival of tourism to our coastline. At the same time,  his works are distinguished by their interest in landscapes and anthropology. Irony, saturated color, few elements and the visual game that is perceived appear in all of his photographic production.

For his part, the photographer  British Martin Parr  He is recognized for dedicating himself to documentary photography. It should be noted that with the rise of British tourism on the Spanish Levante coast (Benidorm beaches) in the mid-90s, he portrayed his British compatriots on our beaches and the lifestyles of the population with his captures. All this also with a certain sarcasm and humor.

It is a unique, curious and exceptional exhibition that can be enjoyed in Madrid now and evokes the sea and the beaches at the beginning of the heat and summer.

The fascination of nature and landscapes of light by Joanie Lemercier

This exhibition with seven audiovisual installations that merge in the digital environment with poetry and care for nature, make the viewer feel sensory experiences through the use of technology and can reflect on the relationship between human beings and the ecosystem, environmental activism , the climate crisis and the fundamental role of light.

The Fundación Telefónica Space hosts this exhibition until July 25 at Calle de Fuencarral, 3. Her artistic works play with geometry, minimalist forms and physical structures to manipulate the perception of reality through technology.

Since 2010, Lemercier has started to develop artistic installations such as movements, illusion games with 3D, digital effects and distortions. Likewise, his works have been exhibited in art galleries such as the China Museum of Digital Art in Beijing (China) or Art Basel Miami (United States). Finally, in 2013, the French artist opened his creative studio where he investigates the use of light projected in space through artistic works.
