Clara Martín is a student of the Audiovisual Communication degree. Her passion for reporting and for international journalism has inspired her to create her new project.

The Audiovisual Communication degree student at the Madrid-Vicálvaro campus is in her last year of her degree. Among her latest projects is the dissemination of news internationally through one of the best-known social networks, Twitter.

Clara Martín is from a town near Toledo and decided to study in Madrid, since this city, in addition to “being a city that I love”, she declares, would offer her many more possibilities. "The URJC offered me, in addition to these two opportunities, to be able to train with professional teachers in what I have always wanted to work in, the audiovisual world."

Q: When did you start to feel interested in the world of communication and audiovisual media? Why did you decide to study Communication?

A: I have always been clear that I wanted to study something related to communication and audiovisual media. When I was little, my parents recorded me giving news that I made up. Also, I really enjoy being in front of a camera. For this reason, I decided to study Audiovisual Communication; to learn as much as possible about this world and to be able to develop myself professionally.

Q: Now that you are finishing your degree, what do you like the most about it?

A: I really liked the more practical subjects. Above all, those that we have had the opportunity to do on the TV set and in the radio studio. In addition, I have also highly valued the advice of some teachers, who are excellent teachers, since they have been of great help to us and it shows that they really love their profession and teach you about their subjects.

Q: Regarding your new project, relatively recently you have started to use Twitter as a platform to report on international news, how did the idea come about?

A: I started writing tweets because it seemed like the best way to start entering the journalistic world. Also, as I have always liked to travel and, currently, I am considering the idea of being a correspondent in some country, it seems to me that the international press is the best idea to start with.

Q: You deal only with international news, what is the reason?

A: I only report on international news because it helps me search, every day, for news in different media to keep up to date in this field. If I want to report in another country, what less, than to know what happens there.

Q: Do you plan to expand and write headlines about national press?

A: At the moment I don't consider it. I want to focus on international press, at least for now.

Q: Why did you choose Twitter as a journalistic outreach platform?

A: I chose twitter because I think it is the platform where more people can see your information. In addition, I discovered that many journalists use it as an informative medium.

Q: What is your goal and what kind of audience do you want to target?

A: My goal is to learn new things day after day and be able to work in this beautiful profession. As for the public, I don't have any specific target. Who wants to read it is more than invited to it, it is for everyone who likes to be informed about what is happening in the world.

Q: Do you see this project as a long-term professional opportunity or rather as a hobby until you find another type of job?

A: I see it more as a hobby. This is because, in my opinion, to go far in networks and for people to start getting to know you, you need a lot of perseverance and time; and right now I just want to develop my skills until I get a job that I like.

Q: What are your expectations for the future?

A: My expectations for the future are quite good. I believe that you always have to think positive and imagine your future as you would like so that you attract good things. Currently, I imagine myself with a good job and where all the effort has been worth it.

Q: And finally, what advice would you give someone who is thinking about or wants to start a project?

A: If you really want something, don't stop fighting for it. No matter how many ups and downs there are along the way, if it is what you want, it will come to pass. Be constant and put all your interest and effort into it.
