Filomena, the snowstorm, has returned to Madrid again

 

Filomena, the snowstorm that covered all of Madrid in white last January, now has its photographic exhibition at the Museum of History (located at Calle de Fuencarral nº 78) until next January 9. The II contest of Filomena in spite of myself brings together a series of photographs with the 40 best historical and picturesque pictures of the spectacle that the passage of this meteorological phenomenon left us.

The people of Madrid sent more than 5.000 photographs to the Museum and a jury has selected the 40 best, which can be seen in this exhibition. However, you can also enjoy another photograph that has been chosen by the public through social networks: Crystallization, which represents a beautiful image of the Crystal Palace in El Retiro Park covered in snow. Finally, it should be mentioned that there is also an enormous collage formed with the rest of 1.200 photographs that were not selected.

The LGTBI movement immortalized in a photographic exhibition

 

Exhibition TRANSIT 15-21. One world ends and another begins to dawn can be visited until July 25 at the Casa de Vacas Cultural Center (Paseo de Colombia nº 1. El Retiro Park). In her we can enjoy the works of Roberto Fernández González, one of the pioneering artists of LGTBI visibility in Spanish art since the 1970s. His works can be found in the main museums and collections in the world such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and Hunterian Museum of London and also in the New York Public Library Print Collection y Forbes Collection New York.

In this exhibition we can see eight photographic, digital and pictorial series of the artist. These include PRIDE BTM (Pride of Blue Tongued Men), TF/CD (Tempus Fugit/Carpe Diem), W-DV (Doubly Surveillance) and  PAREJOS in which the artist gives visibility to young couples Gay Boys down the street holding hands.

Likewise, the original series is also present DEC/WITH W-DV with digital reproductions of works from the previous W-DV series, but now cropped and randomly stitched together to merge into a single image of “transgender” portraits, where the masculine and feminine of both genders are mixed like a game.

"Gerardo Vielba, photographer, 1921–1992” can be visited in Madrid

 

The artistic work of the Madrid photographer Gerardo Vielba (1921-1992), who at the age of 14 began to photograph his surroundings, is exhibited with 116 works in black and white until July 25 at the Sala Canal de Isabel II, located on Carrer of Santa Engracia, 125.

 In this photographic exhibition, "Gerardo Vielba, photographer, 1921–1992", you can enjoy a selection of well-known, award-winning and unpublished images from the family archive; as well as his stay in Paris in 1962.

 Vielba belonged to the Madrid School, which meant that his works were an artistic revolution within classical photography, with influences from salon photography and pictorialism. It should also be noted that the artist He also worked in the magazine Arte Fotografico with photographic criticism articles, in addition to participating in photography contests and debates as a jury.
