The third-year students of the Advertising and Public Relations Degree, Gabriela Victoria, Noelia Fernández, María Mercedes and Candela Fabal, have been finalists in the prestigious advertising festival El Sol. Their Iberdrola X Storming project has given them the opportunity to enter the list short of the contest in this 35th Edition.

The Ibero-American Festival of Communication or El Sol Festival is an appointment for international creativity in the field of advertising. In its Young Creatives section, it allows new generations, such as Gabriela, Noelia, María and Candela, to put their talent to the test.

In this 35th Edition, Iberdrola has been the sponsor of the section dedicated to youth. For this reason, all the participating projects had to respond to an advertising brief whose mission is to position the company as a leader in the energy transition, highlighting the great work that the company is carrying out developing products and solutions suitable for each consumer.

Q: What does the Iberdrola X Storming Project consist of? What were you trying to convey?

R: Our project is a miniseries of 8 chapters, where a presenter travels through the different Spanish provinces with an electric car, making stops at the different recharging points offered by Iberdrola. Here the host of the program held small events with famous people to publicize the Smart Mobility plan offered by the company.

The objective of Iberdrola X Storming is to make the company's customers, especially young people, aware of the facilities available to them when buying an electric car.

Q: How did you come up with the idea?

R: We had planned to make a cycling tour of Spain, although later we thought that a smart route with an electric car and showing the different recharging points that they can use would be better. Most people buy a conventional car, that is, gasoline or diesel, because they think that otherwise it is not possible to make long trips and we wanted to break with this prejudice. We chose the TV show format because we think it's easier to reach a wide audience that way.

Q: How did you find the El Sol festival?

R: We found out about the contest thanks to our Advertising Business and Account Management professor, Antonio Baraybar, who discussed it in class and gave us the link and encouraged us to sign up.

Q: How would you describe the opportunity that this festival has given you?

R: We signed up to put into practice what we were learning in class and to develop our creativity. However, the fact of appearing on the short list opens up opportunities for us in the future and in a certain way, it will also make it easier for us to get an internship or a job.

Q: Did you think that Iberdrola X Storming would reach the finalist position?

R: We didn't think we would get this far, since it was the first year of participation, plus we only had a week to prepare. In fact, we found out that we had been finalists thanks to the congratulations of some classmates who had also participated in the festival.

Q: Do you plan to sign up for the next edition? Why?

R: Of course we plan to introduce ourselves next year. We believe that it is a great opportunity to get to know the world of advertising and public relations beyond what they teach us in class and to carve out a position for the future. In addition, we are very interested in getting the award, since it is an internship scholarship.

Q: How have you coordinated to carry out the project? Was it difficult for you to agree on the ideas?

R: We started with a brainstorm about what Iberdrola plan wanted to show and we opted for the mobility plan, since we think it is the one that will most interest young people. To coordinate, we shared the tasks, one was in charge of the creative part, another of studying our target, etc. It was not very difficult for us to agree on the ideas, although it is true that there were some differences, such as; We didn't know if the name of the program should be Ruta Smart or Via Smart.

Q: What advice would you give to students who want to sign up for the next edition of the festival?

R: We would tell them to do it without any fear or shame. They will learn a lot, in addition, they will be able to test everything they have been learning and see if they really like the world of advertising. With effort and desire everything is achieved; Iberdrola X Storming is proof of this.
