I Edition of the Hackathon DivulgA la AD (atopic dermatitis), a contest for communication students

Written by FCCOM

Those interested in participating must create innovative projects in order to contribute to social knowledge about this disease in Spain. The first edition of this contest has been organized by the Chair in Communication and Health of the Complutense University and is aimed at students from all the Faculties of Communication in Spain.

Through the HACKATHON DivulgA, the DA wants to involve all the young promises of communication to present a creative and innovative campaign that allows them, on the one hand, to put into practice the knowledge acquired, opting to put their project into real practice with an investment of up to €10.000 and to carry out an internship at the Torres y Carrera communication agency, and on the other, to contribute to giving visibility to the burden of severe AD, a disease that is often trivialized.

The Hackathon will begin with a webinar, on October 13, on communication in health and AD. The following will participate: Ubaldo Cuesta, as director of the Chair in Health Communication, who will offer an institutional welcome; Javier Granda, member of the ANIS, who will speak about the bases of health communication (health without hoaxes, fake news, etc.); Africa Luca de Tena, representative of the AADA patient association, who will explain the differences between mild, moderate and severe atopic dermatitis and will talk about the impact of moderate and severe AD on quality of life, and Belén López, Director of Communication of AbbVie, who will provide the point of view of the pharmaceutical industry.

The organization of this contest has the economic collaboration of the biopharmaceutical company AbbVie, with the endorsement of the Association of People Affected by Atopic Dermatitis (AADA) and the National Association of Health Informants (ANIS),

How to participate in the Hackathon

Students must submit a creative project that includes at least one communication idea development around severe AD.

The contest is open to students of any degree belonging to the Faculty of Communication or Information Sciences who are in their third or fourth year and/or pursuing a master's degree, after having completed said degree.
