The UNESCO Chair in Communication and the URJC organize this year the ORBICOM International Congress

It will take place from November 3 to 5 in online mode and with the participation of more than fifty international Communication specialists.

 

 

 

 

The Rey Juan Carlos University and the URJC UNESCO Chair will this year host the Orbicom International Congress, a global network in which specialists from all over the world take part, whose purpose is to develop projects that lead to more participatory communication. In addition, it seeks to generate a greater exchange of knowledge and information.

From November 3 to 5 and online, this event will be held and will be presented by the rector of the University, Javier Ramos, the director of the URJC UNESCO Chair, Carmen Caffarel, and the president of ORBICOM, Jamal Eddine Naji. The inaugural conference will be given by the Director of Partnerships for UNESCO's Operational Programme, Marielza Oliveira.

During the three days of duration, the development of four discussion tables is planned in which about 40 specialists and members of ORBICOM will intervene. The issues that will be discussed revolve around communication processes in crisis situations, disinformation and educational challenges in the COVID-19 era, and, finally, the communication experiences lived in the different world regions. Three of the four tables will be moderated by professors from the Faculty of Communication Sciences and members of the UNESCO URJC Chair Patricia Izquierdo, Rainer Rubira and Carlos Lozano.

The conference will also be the scene of two separate meetings that are held periodically by the UNESCO chairs in Spain and those in Latin America. The closing ceremony will take place on Friday the 5th from 7 pm with the assistance of the Vice-Rector for International Relations, María Luisa Humanes, the Secretary of ORBICOM, Oumar Kane, and the Director of the URJC UNESCO Chair, Carmen Caffarel.

Since it was created in 1994 by UNESCO and the Université du Québec à Montréal, ORBICOM has grown steadily to become a network of more than 200 associate members and 36 UNESCO Chairs in Communication from around the world. all scheduled activities are housed in the Congress website
