The FCCOM Organizes the Conference "The Cinema of Before"

Written by FCCOM

The activity will take place in the Fuenlabrada Campus Management Building, with an exhibition as the central axis.

The event is part of the commemorative acts of the 25th Anniversary of the URJC, and is organized from the Classrooms of the Faculty of Communication Sciences. At the event, we will have the opportunity to have Miguel Pérez 'Trébol', a professional who has worked and dedicated his entire life to the field of film technology. The event has the collaboration of “Luna de Cortos”, Short Film Festival and the Veguellina de Órbigo Neighborhood Council.

From the FCCOM Classrooms, the organization of these conferences is carried out, whose main theme is the cinema prior to the arrival of digital technology for filming, from the pioneering cameras without motors, to those that later incorporated electric motors for their operation. . With the title, THE CINEMA OF BEFORE, we want to pay homage precisely to that analogical cinema and to the processes that were carried out decades ago in the field of celluloid, as well as to all that machinery practically forgotten today, which from this activity we intend to make known and divulge again,

For the development of this activity, we will have the collection of camera equipment and projectors that Miguel Pérez 'Trébol' has available, so that we can illustrate, in an informative way, the route and historical evolution of all these devices that form a part indispensable in the history of cinema. The proposed activities, framed within this event, for the second fortnight of February 2022 are proposed to be the following:

Exhibition
It will be the central activity of the event. For two weeks there will be an exhibition of the equipment available at the Fuenlabrada Campus (Management Building), in an environment decorated with classic film-themed posters.

Workshops
Two sessions will be held by Miguel Pérez 'Trébol' touring the exhibited equipment, illustrating and explaining to the attendees the operation and history of the equipment.

Photo Contest

This activity is aimed at students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the URJC. The exposed technology and cameras, which have immortalized so many characters and stories, will now be the protagonists, serving as models for this photographic contest (“The portrayed machine”). The winners will be chosen by a jury from the University and by Miguel Pérez 'Trébol' himself. The winning photographs will be exhibited together with the teams on the last day of the exhibition.
