URJC students visit the La Familia Plómez Typography Workshop

Posted by Redaction

On December 22 and January 12, visits to the Plómez Family typography workshop will take place.

As it has become almost a tradition at Christmas time, the FCCOM Agency has organized a cultural visit to the typography workshop of The Plómez Family. Groups of students from different disciplines will have the opportunity to learn, first-hand, about the processes of composition and artisanal production with movable type, preserved by this cultural association, located in the Madrid neighborhood of La Latina.

The visits will take place on December 22 and January 12, and in them you will be able to learn about the composition processes with mobile types in wood and metal, in addition to learning about the operation of different printing machines such as the Minerva or the Korrex Berlin flat-cylindrical, among others. Likewise, during the visit you will be able to learn about the printing procedure of different graphic pieces generated with these techniques and their applications with a creative, artistic and informative approach in the current context, as well as the outreach activities carried out by the association.

These visits are part of the informative and educational activities of the FCCOM Classrooms and in collaboration with different cultural associations, such as the Plómez Family. Activities in which different aspects of the disciplines framed within the FCCOM are made known, such as graphic arts and artisanal production processes. And also, to a large extent, the knowledge of the origins of visual, editorial and graphic design through the production processes carried out in the workshop.
