Gin in Hell (1969) is one of the first films by director Jaime Chávarri. The film recreates the Arthurian myth based on the triangle of Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot. The author will debate with the students and attendees about the creation of the work, its context (Spain at the end of the 60s) and relationships with other avant-garde and experimental productions of the time.
Jaime Chávarri established himself as one of the most influential Spanish filmmakers of the second half of the 20th century. Works like The Disenchantment (1974) The bicycles are for summer (1984) o The things you want (1989), as well as his artistic direction in The spirit of the hive (Víctor Erice, 1973) position him as a groundbreaking filmmaker in formal and discursive terms. He has taught and also directed theater.
