Since the start of the state of alarm due to the COVID-19 crisis, there are many examples that highlight the need for interdisciplinary teams.

Primary care

In the Health Centers of the Community of Madrid, work is being done every day to carry out a telephone follow-up of patients with COVID-19, in addition, the telephone attention of the rest of the patients is also continued and in very harsh conditions.

All professionals, health or not, are collaborating in a difficult situation, with fewer resources in primary care, either because they have been referred to hospitals, or by professionals who are on sick leave. In any case, your effort and work are very important for the health system works.

Dentistry

The dental emergency services of various university clinics offer their services. For example, the URJC university clinic makes an initial telephone assessment of the patient's problem and, depending on its severity, indicates whether it is necessary to go to the clinic to receive urgent care. In addition, the Clinic's patient care staff is in contact with patients with treatments started before the confinement period to monitor their progress and needs.

Pharmacies

Not only the pharmaceutical establishments in our neighborhoods supply us with medicines and other basic goods. The pharmacies of the University Hospitals are sending the medicines they need to the homes of patients with chronic diseases. This is what the University Hospitals of Alcorcón and Fuenlabrada do, for example, with patients with Multiple Sclerosis.

Research and development

Researchers at universities, hospitals, and research centers and institutes seek anti virus treatments. are released calls to finance projects and collaborations are established between medical and engineering teams, such as the one recently experienced at our university, where materials engineers, biomedical engineers, robotics engineers, electronic technology and doctors have successfully tested the operation of a low cost mechanical fan

Psychology

There are many proposals that help us cope with this situation. From recommendations of health institutions or individual professional advice (see Relaxation). centers like the URJC university clinic They offer telephone psychological attention. Similarly, the social health centers of the CAM maintain psychological care for patients with COVID-19 and their families.

Individual initiatives: A professor from the Department of Psychology, Merche Aranda, through the company Ideare Learning and Innovation, is doing free coaching and emotional management workshops for all health workers/state forces and bodies/family mediators and retail staff. Anyone who needs this resource can send an email to

Another teacher, Cintia Díaz Silveira, is raising funds for a group of makers to make visors and, hopefully, respirators with their 3D machines for health centers in Cáceres. She is also managing that cleaning companies donate overalls and work gloves for the Cáceres toilets. And that a small group of older people find material to continue sewing masks.

On the other hand, at the initiative of Professor Juan Ardoy, they have translated and generated infographics on the WHO recommendations for managing stress in adults and children.

In addition, several professors from the Department of Psychology are carrying out support and telecare tasks through initiatives promoted by the University Clinic and by the Official College of Psychologists of Madrid.

Sport

Initiatives such as that of the Ingesport Company, a collaborator of the URJC, through the Ingesport-Rey Juan Carlos University Chair of Active Life, Physical Exercise, Health and Happiness, through the challenge #YOENTRENOENCASA encouraged us to do sports by accessing here

Information

Infographics are a way to offer information of interest to the community in a summarized way. Infographics have been designed on the COVID-19On physical activityOn eating or about online teaching. In addition, training activities have been opened through the initiative college at home and publishers like Pan they offer their bibliographic collection openly.

Distribution

The #Food4Heroes project is a spontaneous initiative by Madrid restaurateurs to provide lunch and dinner to the staff of the main health centers in the capital. To reinforce its logistics, Correos has taken a step forward. The transport company announced that it will be in charge of distributing the food. Through the contact email (), health professionals who work in hospitals in Madrid can contact those responsible for the initiative to send them their needs.

Finally, we are very proud of the "COMANDO MODA URJC". Read more about this news here.

And surely we leave more proper names and initiatives, but what is clear is that, today more than ever, teamwork is essential.
