After the costume contest was held, the prizes were awarded and, as in other years, the traditional parade through the city of Aranjuez was held. On this occasion, the Sardine came out accompanied by the comparsas from the Patio of the Old Pavía Barracks until they reached the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Once there, she burned before the audience, who enthusiastically witnessed this closing moment of the riverside carnival.

The URJC community once again participated in the design of this year's Sardine, which was the winner among the various proposals submitted by the students of the subject "Sculpture. Techniques and Materials II”. On this occasion, the winning Sardine was designed by the Fine Arts student Aroa de Miguel Braz. Together with her, her classmates and a group of professors from the areas of painting, drawing and sculpture of the Department of Arts and Humanities carried out the construction of it.

For decades, this project has been strongly linked to the Art degrees of the Rey Juan Carlos University. It is financed by the Aranjuez City Council and has the support of the University, from where a new line of research is carried out that focuses on the exploration of ephemeral and sustainable sculptural creation methodologies in public space. This activity also encourages the development of innovative training strategies that are an ideal complement to learning outside the classroom. Directed by the professors María Emma García-Castellano García, Ana Esther Balboa González and Marta Linaza Iglesias, it has the participation of other professors and professors, such as Ruth Remartínez Martínez, Raquel Sardá Sánchez, Miguel Sánchez-Moñita Rodríguez, David Ortiz-Arce de Torres, Tomás Zarza Núñez and Antonio Vigo Pérez.

This collaboration between the URJC and Aranjuez is already a deep-rooted tradition that shows the close ties that unite the University with the town council, as well as a commitment to teaching innovation and the social involvement of teachers and students.
