The FCEE of the URJC organizes training sessions related to the European Project “Curricula innovation in climate-smart urban development based on green and energy efficiency with the non-academic academic sector (SmartWB)”

The training sessions have welcomed 30 teachers from the Western Balkans and different European countries linked to the project.

The FCEE of the URJC has organized and developed between December 12 and 14, some Training Conferences associated with the European Project “Curricula innovation in climate-smart urban development based on green and energy efficiency with the non-academic academic sector (SmartWB)”. The Conference that took place at the Fuenlabrada Campus welcomed 30 teachers from the Western Balkans and different European countries (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, and the EU, Germany, Austria, Norway and Croatia ).

The SmartWb project has as one of its main objectives to modernize the curricular contents in the countries of the Western Balkans, inspired by the best practices existing in European countries. The training has included visits to the Municipal Housing Institute of Fuenlabrada (IMVF), a public capital company to develop municipal competence in housing, rehabilitation and management of related services and a fundamental public instrument to guarantee equal opportunities in access to public housing where participants have been able to learn about the projects carried out and planned in recent years in the municipality of Fuenlabrada in Smart Building, as well as a visit to the Fuenlabrada Recycling Plant which recovers 69% of the waste, being the most effective in the region, covering 11 municipalities.

The Training Days were inaugurated on Tuesday, December 12, with the welcome of the person in charge of International Relations of the URJC, Pablo Tomás Salvadores, and the leader of the WP3 of the project and the professor of the FCEE, Carmen de Pablos Heredero; During this day, participants were allowed to have and work in the laboratories of the Fuenlabrada campus with cutting-edge applications developed by colleagues from the Smart-E2 Chair, the professors, Julio Ramiro, Cristina Rodríguez, Robert Novak and Marcos Delgado. 

During the morning of Wednesday, December 13, the training has been focused to a greater extent on educational innovation with the participation of our colleagues, Manuel Gertrudix, Alejandro Carbonell and Juan Romero (educational innovation with Posts) and Cesar Cáceres (Escape Room) . Finally, during the day on Thursday, December 14, the training has been focused on the Smart Recycling Platform with the interventions of the professors Jovita Moreno and Inmaculada Concepción Suárez and the researchers Adrián García, Inés Bozalongo, María Isabel Pariente and María Linares together with the visit to the previously mentioned Fuenlabrada Recycling Plant.

In the opinion of Carmen de Pablos Heredero, IP of the SmartWb project at the URJC: “These training sessions on teaching innovation for the area of ​​Climate Smart Urban Development are of great help to inspire European Universities in their proposals for modernizing programs of the Universities of the Western Balkans. At our University, they have been able to learn how educational innovation tools and collaboration agreements are being applied by the University with local entities and companies and demonstrate the value achieved in the learning results and market valuation of the skills that our students achieve." .
