Last Thursday, March 14, the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University was the scene of a conference on the insurance and actuarial sector. Titled "Securing the Future" and organized by Professor Yolanda García Cid, the event brought together some of the most prestigious names in industry, academia and regulatory institutions to discuss the impact and opportunities that artificial intelligence (AI) presents for the sector.

The program was made up of a variety of conferences and panels that addressed everything from current regulation and policies in the insurance sector, to the most recent innovations in actuarial science and strategies to face emerging challenges. The integration of AI in these fields was highlighted as a decisive issue for the evolution of the sector, contributing to the paradigm shift that it will entail in terms of risk assessment and the underwriting of insurance policies.

Among the participants were representatives of key institutions in the sector such as the Institute of Actuaries, the General Directorate of Insurance and Pension Funds, the Insurance Compensation Consortium, as well as the insurance company Mapfre, Nacional de Reaseguros and the Spanish Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Entities (UNESPA). Speakers shared their perspectives on how AI is reshaping the industry, from risk assessment to personalizing insurance policies for consumers.
