I International Congress on Industrial Property and Advertising in the Fashion Sector

On October 4 and 5, the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University was the epicenter of the world of fashion and law with the celebration of the "I International Congress on Industrial Property and Advertising in the Fashion Sector Fashion".

Madrid, October 6, 2023 - On October 4 and 5, the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University was the epicenter of the world of fashion and law with the celebration of the "I International Congress on Property Industrial and Advertising in the Fashion Sector". The event took place in the Assembly Hall of the Vicálvaro Campus Library Building.

This hybrid conference offered a comprehensive vision of the convergence between the legal world and the fashion industry. Expert in-house lawyers shared perspectives on the legal challenges faced by fashion companies with firm lawyers and university professors, and the regulatory challenges that Ibero-American countries face in this constantly evolving sector were analyzed in depth.

Fashion and Law

The inauguration was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University, Professor María Enciso Alonso-Muñumer. The event was organized by the professors of Commercial Law, María Rosa Tapia Sánchez and Enrique Ortega Burgos, with an outstanding scientific committee made up of professors Fernando Sacristán Bergia, Fco. Javier Arias Varona, Ana Felícitas Muñoz Pérez and Antonio Serrano Acitores.

The Congress had the honor of having highly prestigious sponsors such as Pons IP, the Lefebvre publishing house, the CEDEU University Studies Center, Moda España, the Law and Fashion Association, the CEDEU University Chair of Family Business and Entrepreneurship of the URJC and the IURIS URJC Association.

Ms. Esperanza Gallego Sánchez, Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Alicante, was in charge of the inaugural conference. For his part, Mr. Anxo Tato Plaza, Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Vigo and Technical General Secretary of the AUTOCONTROL Advertising Jury, closed the event.

Throughout the two days, round tables were held with university professors, law firm lawyers, in-house lawyers and experts in the field. Highly relevant topics such as "metaverse and fashion", "fashion as art", “brand protection”, “advertising regulation”, “importance of sustainable fashion” and “the impact of artificial intelligence in the sector.”

The Congress was a resounding success, with attendance exceeding 350 people, both in person and online, establishing itself as a benchmark at the intersection between law and fashion.
