III International Congress "Minors and social media: emotional health and vulnerabilities" in Vicálvaro

On November 2 and 3, at the Vicálvaro Campus of the URJC, the III International Congress on "Minors and social media: emotional health and vulnerabilities" will be held. TIts purpose is to reflect on the influence that the media has on the emotional health of youth.

The Third International Congress on "Minors and social media: Emotional health and vulnerabilities" is a proposal that aims to reflect on the influence that the media, particularly digital platforms, have on the emotional health of youth and their ability to express and manage the vulnerabilities and emotional challenges that arise in life. It will be held in a hybrid way (online and in person) and is aimed at students, researchers, professionals and teachers as well as anyone interested in the topic. For this reason, the Congress is open to anyone who wants to know or delve deeper into the topic. The idea is to present communications from researchers on the topic that nourish knowledge about minors and social networks, focusing on the different vulnerabilities and consequences of their use on emotional health, from different perspectives, generating feedback among the attendees. .

Directed by Esther Martínez Pastor and María Ángeles Blanco Ruiz, the event is organized by the Faculty of Communication of the URJC in close collaboration with the Vice-Rectorate of University Extension URJC. Organized within the framework of ALNS, financed by the project “Media representation of minors' self-harm in the media and social networks” of the Ministry of Science and Innovation. This initiative is developed within the framework of the European project SIC-Spain3 for the promotion of a safer Internet for minors, coordinated by the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) through the IS4K Internet Security Center.

Figures from the Rey Juan Carlos University such as Vice-Rector Mercedes del Hoyo and the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Rafael Gómez will participate throughout the conference. Likewise, professionals such as Patricia Moreno del Valle, Eva Herrero Curiel, América Jiménez Aguilar, Laura Dryjanska, Antonio García Jiménez, Manuel Ransán (INCIBE) and Sonia Rico will participate in the talks. Each one, representing their different national and international universities and institutions, will try to contribute their vision and experience in the investigation of the influence of the media on new generations and its impact on their mental and emotional well-being.

The students of the Rey Juan Carlos University who attend the Congress You will be able to obtain 0 ECTS (6 hours), free of charge. To obtain the certificate of attendance it will be necessary to attend 80% of the sessions (50% in person) and participate with a question (via face-to-face, chat or video/voice) each day in the session of your choice.
