The Rey Juan Carlos University and the Master of Investigative Journalism collaborate in COLPIN2024

The URJC and its Master of Investigative Journalism will participate in COLPIN2024. The program will be held between October 23 and 26 at Casa América in Madrid.

Next October Madrid will become the center of Investigative Journalism. There will be more than 400 professionals who will visit the capital of Spain to tell, explain and teach how and in what way the carpets of power are “raised” in COLPIN2024.

The Rey Juan Carlos University and the Master of Investigative Journalism of this university and the newspaper El Confidencial will be the main promoters of this event together with the Association of Investigative Journalists of Spain (API) which, for the first time, will be held in Spain.

Thanks to the agreement between the URJC, through the Master of Investigative Journalism from the URJC and El Confidencial, and the Press and Society Institute (IPYS), communication students from the URJC will be able to attend for free and collaborate with COLPIN2024 actively, both in the information coverage of the work tables and workshops and in the different presentations and exhibitions that will be held. just. To qualify for one of the 50 available places, students must pre-register. For undergraduate students, the activity is recognized with 1 ECTS (20 hours).

The COLPIN2024 program will address the most relevant topics for international investigative journalism, including emerging issues such as the impact of artificial intelligence on journalistic practice. The Javier Valdez awards for Latin American Investigative Journalism, the Lincoln Award for Journalism on urban policies, sustainable development and climate change, and those of the Association of Investigative Journalists of Spain (API) will also be presented. And a forum on journalists in exile will be organized, a problem aggravated in recent years as a consequence of the repressive mechanisms carried out by governments and organized crime to silence the voices of informants.

The Ibero-American Conference on Investigative Journalism (COLPIN2024) will be held in Madrid between October 23 and 26 at Casa América. Collaborating in the organization of the event, among other organizations and institutions, are the API, the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), El Confidencial, the Rey Juan Carlos University and Casa América.  

The professors and students of the Master of Investigative Journalism at the URJC and El Confidencial, directed by Manuel Gértrudix and Antonio Rubio, will collaborate in the organization of the event. Registration for the second edition of the Master is now open and, in addition, it has important financial aid.
