Predoctoral researcher Diana Morales, from the area of ​​Archeology, won First Prize in the V URJC Scientific Dissemination Awards

On December 15th 2023, on the occasion of the V Scientific Dissemination Awards celebrated in the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, predoctoral researcher Diana Morales Manzanares, on behalf of Archeology area from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, received the First Prize for the activity “Community Archeology in the Castillo de Guzmán”.

This project focuses on the inclusion of the non-specialized public in activities to recover the Cultural and Archaeological Heritage of the municipality of Guzmán, in Burgos, where the area develops its excavations from 2021. During the In recent years, the residents of the municipality have offered their help to the URJC team of archaeologists not only by actively participating in the excavations, but also providing a valuable information about the heritage resources of the town, through which a mapping based on cultural heritage of its inhabitants. This has allowed us to generate a valid methodology and a heritage discourse in which the neighbors can see themselves represented, beyond the scientific data collected at the Castillo de Guzmán site.

Initiatives like this highlight the significance of creating projects in which the informative field is included from its embryonic phase. Furthermore, it is important to emphasize the need to train Faculty students through direct participation in research processes whose purpose is scientific dissemination.

Although this is the second consecutive year that the area of ​​Archeology has been awarded in this contest, this First Prize for Scientific Dissemination at the URJC marks an unprecedented milestone Which helps make visible la research and scientific dissemination carried out by the Faculty.
