Antonio José Romero Barrera won the award for "Best TFG for the Energy Transition" for the 2022/2023 academic year, in the "II National Call for Awards for the best TFG and TFM for the Energy Transition", awarded by the Energy Transition Chair managed by the University of Santiago de Compostela and the company Genesal Energy.

The award was presented at the ETSE of Campus Vida in Santiago. The directors of the TFG are Professor David Casillas Pérez (URJC) and Professor Laura María Cornejo Bueno (UAH). The TFG is titled "DESIGN OF METAHEURISTIC ALGORITHMS FOR THE PROBLEM OF PLACING WIND TURBINES ON THE GROUND", defended on May 22, 2023 to obtain the Degree in Aerospace Engineering in Aerospace Vehicles taught at the EIF.

In this TFG, a comparative study was developed to analyze the influence of seven wake kinematic models on the non-convex optimization problem of wind turbine layout on the ground. Three population-based metaheuristic algorithms were used in order to obtain the optimal distributions of wind turbines, seeking to reduce the incident speed loss caused by the wake turbulence cones generated by the movement of the rotors. Through these experiments, the impact of the size of the land, the number of wind turbines and the characteristics of the wind roses used on the behavior of the search operators that incorporated the metaheuristic algorithms was investigated, with the purpose of identifying the patterns efficiency based on these configurations.

In the same call, the winner in the TFM category was Blanca Delgado Galicia, a graduate of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, for her work "Functionalization of double perovskite-type ceramic materials by the exsolution method for their use as electrocatalysts in electrochemical cells." Congratulations to both of you!
