The experimental and highly specialized nature of engineering studies such as telecommunications, aerospace, biomedical or software robotics, requires that each week the 1200 students of the school can carry out their undergraduate classes in teaching laboratories equipped with very diverse laboratory teaching material. , with highly specialized hardware and software.

At ETSIT we are particularly concerned about this aspect of teaching: more and more subjects are taught entirely in laboratories. Many others have lab teaching every week.

These are the 25 teaching laboratories that the ETSIT URJC maintains on the Fuenlabrada Campus. If you don't know them, sign up to come and we'll show you them on site at the URJC's Fuenlabrada campus:

  • Multimedia Information Processing and Equipment Laboratory (software and hardware). L2007. This laboratory consists of 15 workstations equipped with the necessary hardware and software to carry out digital audio processing. It also has 15 posts for the analysis and planning of audiovisual equipment and systems.

  • Physics Laboratory (hardware). The L2008 Laboratory consists of 40 workstations with the necessary equipment to carry out various types of physics practices (mechanics, dynamics, electromagnetism, etc.).

  • Digital Processing Laboratory (software and hardware). Laboratory L2009 consists of 40 workstations equipped with DSP boards (digital signal processors, A/D converters, samplers, control devices, audio transceivers,...) to perform digital signal processing in real time.

  • Electronics Laboratory (hardware). The L2010 Laboratory consists of 25 workstations equipped with Coldfire boards to carry out basic design and low-level programming practices for microcomputers (microprocessors, FPGAs, conditioning circuits, oscilloscopes, insert boards).

  • Digital Television Laboratory (software and hardware). Laboratory L2102 consists of 32 workstations equipped with the necessary hardware and software for the analysis and treatment of the digital television signal. It includes high definition audio and video analysis programs, equipment, as well as multicarrier modulators and signal reception cards.

  • Circuit Analysis and Design Laboratory (hardware). Laboratory L2103 consists of 30 workstations equipped with all the necessary equipment (power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters and control software) to design, build and verify the operation of electrical and electronic circuits.

  • Web Development Laboratory (software): Laboratory L2108 is a Laboratory with 18 machines (plus a teacher's position) configured as Unix-type workstations (GNU/Linux and BSD). All of them have 23-inch high-resolution monitors, HP EliteDesk computers with 256 GB SSD hard drives, 8 GB of memory and sixth-generation Intel i5 processors. The computers are connected via a 100 Mbit/s Ethernet network, and software is installed on them, including virtualization environments and software development environments in all the languages ​​used in practices related to web application development.

  • Windows Computer Classrooms (software). Located in Laboratories L2005 and L2006. Computer laboratories with a total of 80 personal computers with the Windows operating system, with specialized simulation and programming software. These laboratories are managed by the URJC Computing Service and have a dual configuration for use at the ETSIT, as workstations and as virtualized workstations in the URJC's standard virtualization scheme. These computers have high-resolution monitors, high-speed hard drives, 4/8 GB of memory and i5 or similar processors.

  • Windows Computer Classrooms (software). Laboratories L3007 and L3102 have a total of 80 personal computers with the Windows operating system, with specialized simulation and programming software. These laboratories are managed by the URJC Computing Service and have a dual configuration for use at the ETSIT, as workstations and as virtualized workstations in the URJC's standard virtualization scheme. These computers have high-resolution monitors, high-speed hard drives, 4/8 GB of memory and i5 or similar processors. The units are also connected via a 100 Mbit/s Ethernet network.

  • Aerospace Engineering Laboratory (software and hardware). Laboratory L3103 is a Laboratory equipped with high-performance remote servers for the execution of optimization and control programs. It also includes 20 computer-assisted flight simulation stations.

  • Robotics and Ubiquitous Systems Laboratory (hardware). Laboratory L3104 is a laboratory equipped with different types of robots (Kobuki wheeled mobile robots, Nao humanoids, and drones) and other hardware dedicated to robotics (Hokuyo lasers and color cameras and eight RGBD Xtions sensors). For the Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems subjects, the laboratory has Android mobile devices, different types of Arduino boards and different types of actuators and sensors.

  • Acoustic Engineering Laboratory (software and hardware). The L3108 Laboratory, in its software part, consists of 20 stations to simulate environmental acoustics and architectural acoustics. In its hardware part, it consists of 20 stations with sound analyzers, sources, impact machines and an anechoic chamber to carry out measurements and acoustic experiments.

  • Software Defined Radio Laboratory (hardware): Laboratory L3109 is a laboratory equipped with software-defined radio workstations, made up of PCs equipped with GNURadio and USRPs (Universal Software Radio Peripheral) of different types. This laboratory is aimed at carrying out practices that allow understanding basic concepts such as the electromagnetic spectrum, modulations, etc. to multi-carrier broadband digital communications systems. In addition, the Laboratory has 40 USB DVB-TV tuner devices for carrying out SDR practices.

  • Software Robotics Laboratory (software), Laboratory L3202, has 44 GNU/Linux workstations with latest generation HP Elite Desk PCs, with sixth generation i5 processors, 256 GB SSD drives, 8 GB of RAM, HP screens 23 inches. This Laboratory is part of the group of Linux Laboratories of the ETSIT.

  • Biomedical Engineering Laboratory I (software): Biomedical Engineering Laboratory I has 56 GNU/Linux workstations (plus a teacher's position), with the latest generation HP Elite Desk PCs, with sixth generation i5 processors, SSD drives 256 GB, 8 GB RAM, 23-inch HP screens. These positions use programs related to the acquisition and treatment of medical images by software. In addition, students can use the URJC MyAPPs virtualization infrastructure.

  • Biomedical Engineering Laboratory II (software and hardware): Laboratory L3204 has 46 GNU/Linux workstations with the latest generation HP Elite Desk PCs, with sixth generation i5 processors, 256 GB SSD disks, 8 GB RAM , 23-inch HP/Samsung screens. These positions use programs related to the acquisition and treatment of images, data and medical signals by software. In addition, students can use the URJC MyAPPs virtualization infrastructure. The Laboratory also has ultrasound machines, stethoscopes, microscopes, various 32-channel EEG headsets and Bitalino Bluetooth kits for capturing physiological signals. The Laboratory has Biopack data acquisition units to record physiological measurements (EMG, ECG, EEG) in real time and perform their subsequent analysis.

  • Laboratory of Electromagnetic Fields and Radiation (Antennas), Microwaves and High Frequency (hardware). Laboratory L3205 consists of 20 workstations for carrying out practices on radiofrequency signal measurement and the construction of equipped microwave circuits (signal generators, network analyzers and microwave banks, isotropic and directional antennas, antenna arrays, structures for positioning of radiant systems, spectrum analyzers and mobile spectrum analyzers).

  • Laboratory of Operating Systems and Middleware (software). Laboratory L3207 has 50 workstations (plus a teacher's station) configured as Unix-type stations (GNU/Linux and BSD). They all feature a Dell OptiPlex i5 with 8/16GB of RAM and 250/500GB. This Laboratory has Gigabit ethernet access (1Gb/s) to the URJC data network, and software is installed on them that includes complete software development environments in all the languages ​​used in practices related to Systems Software. This laboratory shares infrastructure with the rest of the GNU/Linux and BSD laboratories of the ETSIT (L2108, L3202, L3203, L3204, L3208, L3209, L3210), providing a homogeneous environment for the user, accessible remotely through a set of virtual machines. available 24/7 and VNC remote access through a browser.

  • Laboratory of Network Architectures (software). The L3208 Laboratory consists of 50 PCs (plus a teacher's station) configured as Unix-type workstations (GNU/Linux and BSD). All of them are Dell OptiPlex 790 computers, i5 processor with 16GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive, with NVidia GeForce 645 graphics card and dual network card. This Laboratory has Gigabit ethernet access (1Gb/s) to the URJC data network, and software is installed on them that includes complete software development environments in all the languages ​​used in practices related to network architectures and subjects. of telematics.

  • Laboratory of Distributed Systems and Cloud Computing (software). Laboratory L3209 is a laboratory equipped with 56 PCs (plus a teacher's station) configured as Unix-type workstations (GNU/Linux and BSD). All of them are Dell OptiPlex 790 computers, with i5 processors, 16GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive, with NVidia GeForce 645 graphics card and dual network card. This Laboratory has Gigabit ethernet access (1Gb/s) to the URJC data network, and software is installed on them, including virtualization environments and software development environments in all the languages ​​used in practices related to software development. applications, distributed systems, concurrency and Cloud Computing.

  • Network Virtualization Laboratory (software). The L3210 Laboratory is a Laboratory equipped with 70 PCs (plus a teacher's station) configured as Unix-type workstations (GNU/Linux and BSD). All of them are Dell OptiPlex i7 with 16GB of RAM and 250GB of hard drive. This Laboratory has Gigabit ethernet access (1Gb/s) to the URJC data network, and software is installed on them, including virtualization environments and software development environments in all the languages ​​used in practices related to virtualization and development. of telematic systems.

  • Biomedical Engineering Laboratory (Alcorcón Campus): ETSIT has a GNU/Linux Laboratory dedicated to Biomedical Engineering students (English) on the Alcorcón Campus, analogous to the Laboratories it has on the Fuenlabrada Campus. Laboratory 1.106 (Aulario I) has a total of 50 PCs (plus a teacher's position) with GNU/Linux Dell OptiPlex 7050 workstations, with high-performance 256 GB SSD disks, seventh-generation i5 processors, 8 GB of RAM, 21-inch widescreen Dell screens, and access to the URJC data network via a 100 Mbit/s link. VNC-WEB remote access is provided for Alcorcón students so that they can use their Linux accounts from a WEB browser, as for Fuenlabrada students.

To guarantee the correct operation and maintenance of these facilities, the ETSIT has a human team of five laboratory technicians dedicated full time to the maintenance of these facilities at the Fuenlabrada and Alcorcón Campuses.
