The Faculty of Communication Sciences and the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+i) of the Rey Juan Carlos University celebrate today, September 27, the tenth edition of the 'European Night of Researchers in Madrid'. The event, which in this edition will focus on the field of Communication, will take place on the Fuenlabrada campus, under the motto “Communication on stage”.

The event will open its doors at 10:00 a.m. and will end at 21:00 p.m. with the screening of the winning video of the “URJC European Night of Researchers 2019” contest.

During this conference, URJC researchers will show the public different lines of research on science in the media and media on science. The scientists will announce some relevant studies and their fields of application, which will range from cinematographic animation, journalism or cyber violence to issues such as digital identity or the new communication paradigms of society. Attendees will participate in various workshops and fun activities related to these subjects and will interact closely with researchers.

For the Rey Juan Carlos University, it is very important to organize and participate in these initiatives because "as a University we have an important social commitment to the dissemination of science," explains Visitación López-Miranda, URJC Vice-Rector for Research. "People should be interested in science because it is the engine of development and progress in society," says the vice-chancellor, who also states that "science is in all branches of knowledge and many times scientific work is only associated with disciplines like biology or physics and it is not like that. That is why this edition focuses on the field of Communication”.

This tenth edition of the Researchers' Night also coincides with the launch of the contest  "Condensed Science", promoted by the Foundation for Knowledge  mother+d, and with the celebration of the European Week of Sport. Reason for which activities will also be carried out to show how the body composition of athletes is evaluated and how new technologies are applied in the development and control of training and competitions.

In addition, exhibitions of projects by Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellows researchers and programs funded by the European Union can be visited in a prominent place on campus: the European corner.

The scientific dissemination activities at the URJC are promoted by the Vice President for Research, through the UCC+i, and also have the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), dependent on the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
