Basic Information
Introduction
Politics is a central topic of interest to citizens who demand professional, useful and truthful information on a daily basis. Its importance makes political issues occupy prominent spaces in the different media. Press, radio, television and internet cover events of social, political and public interest, occupying large news spaces. A third of the press contents deal with these issues; Radio and television news programs open with news, speeches and statements of a political nature, and the Internet has become a platform for political parties, organizations and social movements to express themselves.
Politics also occupies a privileged place in the social networks used as a channel of communication between leaders and citizens. Political scenarios change and information professionals must keep up with times characterized by the dizzying pace of events. All of this makes this area of journalistic specialization essential for optimal coverage and treatment of news content.
The growing complexity of today's politics, together with the increase in the political culture of the Spanish, requires future information professionals to be prepared to properly carry out their duties as mediators between public opinion and political powers. Adequate information facilitates an optimal decision in the election processes of those responsible for Power.
Objectives
El Specialist in Political Journalism Its fundamental objective is to contribute to the training of future informants and political analysts. It seeks to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to understand and analyze political reality, power-media relations, political leadership, and the distribution of powers from the perspective of communication and journalism.
The title of Specialist that is presented seeks to address the contents and tools necessary to successfully cover the performance of journalistic and communicative tasks specialized in politics. Training political analysts is also a priority objective of this course and not only preparing political informants and communicators

Module A. Spanish Political and Electoral System (30 hours) Introductory block where the Spanish political-institutional framework will be studied. System of political parties and electoral system.

Module B. Political Journalism (120 hours) Specialist center block. They will be studied from the main sources of political information through the study of the professional routines of the political journalist and the study of the strategies of specialized writing in politics and the differences depending on the geographical area of destination.

Module C. Political Communication (80 hours) Module in which the elements that make up political communication, the main political communication strategies, the organization of electoral campaigns and the communication structure of the Spanish State will be studied, with special attention to the figure of spokespersons.

Module D. Political Analysis (100 hours) Module in which essential matters will be focused on in order to carry out a good political analysis. Research methods, leadership, agendas, influence, pressure groups and power, public opinion and finally the importance of fiction as responsible for the construction of political imaginaries.

Journalism professionals who want to specialize in politics. Consulting staff, analysis cabinets who want to expand their training in political information and communication. Graduates or graduates in journalism, Sociology, Political Science, History, Philosophy and, in general, any degree in Social and Legal Sciences and Humanities.
access requirements
To access these studies, it will be necessary to be in possession of an official Spanish university degree or one issued by a higher education institution belonging to another Member State of the European Higher Education Area, which authorizes access to postgraduate studies.
The most similar access studies are the Degrees and/or degrees in journalism, Sociology, Political Science, History, Philosophy and, in general, any degree in Social and Legal Sciences and Humanities.
Degrees from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area may give access to these studies, without the need to obtain homologation or the declaration of equivalence of the degrees, prior authorization and once it has been verified that they accredit a level of training equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that empower in the country issuing the degree for access to postgraduate education.
Exceptionally, professionals without a university degree who prove work experience in the subject of the education they intend to pursue may also access these studies, although in these cases they will only be able to opt for a diploma or a university extension certificate with the same name and number of credits corresponding to this degree.

Pre-registration: €250. This amount is included in the total cost of the course and will be returned if your academic request is not accepted. If, once the student's application has been admitted, the enrollment is not formalized, the amount deposited for pre-enrolment will not be returned.

- Certificate certifying that the studies carried out give access to an Official Postgraduate Degree in your country of origin, issued by the University of origin

Applicants with studies completed in foreign University Centers may be requested at any time a certificate of verification of these studies and centers, issued by an authorized Institution.
