Description of the Service/Trials offered
The Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing laboratory is a laboratory whose objective and available techniques are the same as those currently possessed by the Laser Laboratory for Welding and Surface Processing (LASERLABU). It has belonged to the RLA since 2005 and has the Level 3 classification of quality recognition granted by the Advisory Group of the Madrid Laboratory Network (REDLAB). With REDLAB code: 251. However, since the beginning where the name was given, until now the equipment and techniques offered have increased greatly, making it necessary to change the name to improve visibility in accordance with current trends. such as the field of Additive Manufacturing or 3D Printing.
The main objective of the Laboratory is to research and provide service to the Madrid industry in those fields that require additive manufacturing of materials. To achieve this objective, the laboratory has a large group of researchers specialized in this field. Since its creation, the laboratory has been providing services to other research groups of public organizations and companies, directly, through fees or through research contracts (art. 60 LOSU) managed by the research groups.
Currently the laboratory has the following testing and characterization techniques:
Directed Energy Metal Additive Manufacturing Area:
- DLMD (Direct laser metal deposition): ROFIN DL13 high power diode laser, ABB IRB 2400/16 Robot, Extraction system, inert and cooled shielding gas and automatic safety, KOAX coaxial head, Powder feeder model GTV 2/2 with 2 hoppers.
- LWMD (Laser wire metal deposition): Meltio Engine Robot Integration additive manufacturing system.
Powder Bed Metal Additive Manufacturing Area:
- Additive manufacturing system by SLS and SLM, S-Titanium Pro, from AURORA LABS.
- Additive manufacturing system by SLM. Renishaw AM400. With a module for reduced volume.
Polymer Additive Manufacturing Area:
- FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling): Iridium HiTech printer.
- DLP (Digital Light Processing): for Manufacturing in TR3DLAND Wax-Based Castable Resins.
- Composite Materials (Mark Forged Mark One):
- BCN3D+ printer with paste extruded module. Uv lamp.
