Description of the service / Essays offered
The laboratory aims to apply new technologies to the evaluation of human behavior and social interaction in those natural contexts in which they take place and at the time they occur.
This approach to measurement, defined as a momentary ecological assessment, improves reliability and validity by obtaining high-quality data through:
- The reduction of the biases derived from the evaluation based on the memory that an individual has about their own behavior in the past.
- The reduction of dependence on the information consciously offered by individuals through questionnaires, through the collection of data on cognitive, emotional and psycho-physiological processes using technological devices and/or applications.
- The collection of information about aspects of the physical and social environment that are related to the assessed behavior (eg, location, activity, presence of other people, interaction with other individuals, etc.)
- The incorporation of the temporal dimension to behavior analysis through the implementation of longitudinal designs with multiple measures.
The activity that the laboratory offers is ordered around the following lines:
- Development of a platform for the ecological evaluation of human behavior based on smart phones by sending a questionnaire to mobile terminals according to different sampling programs.
- Development of a system capable of integrating information on psychophysiological responses (HRV, EDA) linked to affective states, through the communication of the signal of devices for ambulatory evaluation with mobile terminals.
- Development of applications for smart mobile terminals that allow the evaluation of capacities and cognitive processes in real time.
- Development of a system capable of detecting in real time when social interaction occurs through indoor geolocation devices.
The results of the laboratory work allow us to offer a wide number of services that can be grouped into:
- Evaluation of human behavior and social interaction. Design and implementation of diary studies.
- Behavioral monitoring and behavioral screening (eg, screening for anxiety, social isolation).
- Implementation of behavior modification interventions (eg, promotion of healthy habits, adherence to medical treatments)
