The work of disseminating and disseminating information about the importance of cybersecurity is gaining more and more importance today. It is not only an essential area for large companies and Public Administrations, but also for universities and society in general.

So much so that, in recent years, more and more voices have been raised to value the commitment to information security on the Internet. One of them is that of José Antonio Rubio, PhD in Cybersecurity Engineering and responsible for topics data protection and information security at the URJC. His activity has just earned him the label of 'influencer' of cybersecurity in Spain, recognized by the IDG editorial.

Rubio is also director of academic relations at ISACA Madrid, the most important international professional organization in the field of security. From the organization, “I direct the dissemination actions of ISACA within the universities: training cycles, conferences... so that students are aware that they must bet on security and that professionals in this field are in demand. This need must be met from the university”, she explained.

The doctor of engineering is grateful and enthusiastically receives the recognition since "it is a joy that the largest publisher in the ICT world has recognized my work and proactivity in the field of cybersecurity", he assured.

The future of cybersecurity

Likewise, the engineer has declared that it is very important to spread "good practices" since in cybersecurity "the human factor is the most important thing. No matter how much technology is implanted, if the human factor does not pay due attention, it is useless”.

Regarding the future of cybersecurity in our country, Rubio believes that companies, public organizations and governments must invest more and better in information security: “Little by little progress is being made and there are regulations that help regulate this aspect – such as the National Security Scheme in Public Administration, the NIS Directive or the European Data Protection Regulation. But there is still a lot to be done in raising awareness so that managers understand that it is a relevant issue and that resources must be provided”, he concluded.
